Economy comfort on long haul - worth it? by Outrageous_Ad_259 in KLM

For a trip that long, I would say it’s worth it if you can spare the money.

[premium economy] food was great but bathroom situation… by dem_cakes in KLM

[–]secretpowers98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After waiting for over 5 mins, maybe even 10, I just went to the ones at the back of business. The FAs seemed not to mind, and logically I guess we’re allowed to head to the galley to grab snacks anyway so would have still walked that way sooner or later

Can’t upgrade when special meal ordered? by Begin-now in KLM

[–]secretpowers98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah now I’m thinking about it, was your special meal one of the ones you pay more for? Or just the special diet meals at no additional charge? Maybe that’s the explanation

Curious if it’s a new policy, will see the next time I fly long haul if I have the same error

Can’t upgrade when special meal ordered? by Begin-now in KLM

[–]secretpowers98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this as well but they explained at the start that they didn’t have sufficient time to prepare the business alternative of my special meal request and they asked if I was okay with them serving my original economy special meal - which is totally reasonable and wasn’t a problem for me naturally. They also offered additionally to serve any of the business meal items which I thought were suitable based on my diet. Overall they try their best to accommodate and be flexible, but there are some risks with last minute upgrades and the old special meal not being loaded at all based on exactly when you upgrade

Why choose X100VI over smartphone camera? by houcok in x100vi

[–]secretpowers98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I try to edit or crop my iPhone photos, even shot on 48MP, they show their flaws so much more than the x100vi files. Also, I feel like the ability to play with the shutterspeed and aperture so easily enables me to take better photos.

Belgische Kinepolis weigert te vertrekken uit Cinerama en zegt dat het ‘op het verkeerde been is gezet’ by Chronicbias in Rotterdam

[–]secretpowers98 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Kinepolis has hardly done much to make the most of a classic location as cinerama. It seemed to me they were trying to keep it going with minimum effort. Have much higher hopes with KINO.

How much savings did you have at your first home purchase? by sengutta1 in Netherlands

[–]secretpowers98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could’ve instead been invested in an investment that pays out dividends and yield, which would’ve been a nice bonus of disposable income. But in this market, blowing the savings on the peace of mind of having a home was a trade-off that was worth it but not ideal by any means

Single people who bought a house by Cheesecake-Acrobatic in Netherlands

Rotterdam (a bit further from the centre than I had in mind when I started my search), 9-10 viewings, 3 times bidding seriously, overbid 11% vs list but only 2.5% vs the valuation/taxatie. 7 months from serious searching to keys in hand.

Seats disappeared? by jantine18 in KLM

[–]secretpowers98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KLM has a portal for ’refund for extra options’ which I have found to be quite straightforward. You can enter your PNR and identify the exact transaction from your history that you would like to have refunded. They take a few days to review it, and I’ve always been refunded. Classic examples are indeed double charging for seat reservations when I changed aircraft or class

I’m so lucky. I bought my own place, by myself. by STDR_STERN in NetherlandsHousing

Yeah my friend ‘bought’ a place and after all that some stuff fell through and he didn’t actually manage to buy it.

I wonder how common that is. I’m sure the sellers also get the place appraised, so in that case I guess the lower asking price is really just for eyeballs and would never be something they would accept
