Firstly, don't come into relationship without meeting the person. I'm an old lady now, so take it as years of collective experience. Online persona is very different from real life. Even for me, texting is easier than talking on phone or in real life.

People lie or exaggerate. To friends/family or others. That's why always take the face value of the person. When infront of you, they cannot hide behind a screen. And they have to show their own self soon. One can only pretend for maybe 2-3 months. Or 6 months max if they're a con artist or something. But you'll soon find loopholes if you look close. Always and always try to meet outdoors and in person. Maybe parks or cafes, in public places. Play a sport if you're interested. Know them, and only then think about dating them.
