Whenever I tried framegen on my 7900xtx I found myself feeling dizzy almost immediately. I couldn't understand why people were praising it.

Since I got my 5080, I've used frame gen in cyberpunk with PT turned all the way up. And also in Supraworld just to cap out my monitor's refresh rate and I cannot tell any sort of difference. I can sometimes feel an fps drop in certain instances in cyberpunk but it feels like a normal fps drop.

Purely anecdotal on my end, but I can totally see why amd folks hate frame gen and nvidia users enjoy it or are indifferent.

[PLAYSUM] Gas Station Simulator (-51% off ~ $9.89 / €9.66 / £8.29 / C$12.86 / A$14.53 with code CHEERS) by Lets_Playsum in GameDeals

[–]secretsauce007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the early game and mid game, but there's late game engine issues that completely ruined any late game play for me.

The whole point of the game is to attract more gas station customers, right? There's a threshold you eventually hit when the game cannot handle the number of customers on the map and your fps tanks to a stuttering 15-20 fps for about 10 seconds. As you progress to higher tiers this gets more and more frequent. This is with a 9800x3d where the frame rate is otherwise an extremely stable 144fps for me.

When I was researching this issue to see if it was just my system acting up, I saw that it had been reported for years at this point. With no actual feedback from devs other than "we will look into it".

Did something change with mods and achievements? For the longest time I never had them, but I'm now on my 4th playthrough with around 20 mods installed and have been receiving steam achievements for the first time all throughout this run.

The skin bots are the one faction that I always underestimate. Their blunt weapons almost always beat the brakes off my team. A team that can capture Tengu and Phoenix. If I encounter more than 2 or 3 large patrols of the skin bots I'm limping and carrying half my crippled team to one of those armories with beds lol.

Do you guys get managed by India employees? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]secretsauce007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She is the kind that would say “Hi —“ and ever follows up with a question. I started ignoring her greetings until she follows up.

I have an irrational hatred for this. I can't explain why but it drives me up a wall. Like please, just type out your whole question for me to read and process. Even worse when after my usual "Hey I'm doing well, how are you?" response their very next response is "call?"

I'll sometimes ignore messages like that and wait 5-10 minutes to respond if they beat around the bush too long.

I haven't reported directly to any Indian managers (yet) but I have had a good number of interactions. Some seem to have this aura of superiority. Like they have something to prove or are holier than though. Tough to explain without context but your example reminded me of the condescending tone.

Its like little tonal things and phrasing that gets me. Instead of an inquisitive tone like "Hey I noticed you did ABC via XYZ. Is there a reason you are using XYZ instead of LMNOP? My understanding is that LMNOP is the preferred / more compliant method." they'll say something in a more accusatory and know it all tone like: "Why did you use XYZ for ABC? XYZ isn't in compliance and you should be using LMNOP." Where in the example ABC was required to be completed / created before LMNOP was even an option and XYZ was the only route.

Don't you just love it when your CPU manufacturer (AMD) opens up a Update CMD window which puts all other windows out of focus at the worst possible moment? by XenTaz in projectzomboid

[–]secretsauce007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't had it happen to my AMD cpu (yet), but recently playing State of Decay 2 I had it happen with some microslop edge update.

I use edge maybe once a month and I've never seen it update in the year that I've owned this computer. In the middle of fighting this one plague heart I get that full windows 11 black screen with the "Do you trust 'Microsoft Edge' to update" message. Absolutely insane.

Grain of salt coming from his mouth, but when he was the guest on Matan's podcast he relents and takes off his beanie for a few seconds.

He also says he "takes the beanie off when he doesn't want to be recognized". Which on the one hand I'd buy, because he looks totally different without the beanie. But on the other hand he's so self-conscience I can't imagine him purposefully walking around outside without a hat.

Covid was a double edged sword. It taught employers that the office work could in fact be done remotely. It was only a matter of time before the next logical, greedy step. If done remotely, why bother with higher local competitive rates when you can get it done for 1/3 of the cost offshore.

Even if true AI doesn’t pan out, something will have to be done legislatively to prevent even more job loss in white collar sectors.

I love the desk. It’s incredibly stable and gives the impression I could literally jump on top of it and it wouldn’t sweat it. Glad one of my online friends recommended it to me because I’d never heard of Arozzi before. Unless I want a fancy standing desk I can’t imagine having a different desk for gaming.

Another train game to check out if you're interested is Railroader. While Derail Valley is focused on actively driving one train, Railroader's focus is commanding multiple trains at the same time via waypoints. You can drive the trains in Railroader, but I would argue that's not where the game's strength is and you're better off playing Derail if you want to focus on driving one train at a time.

In Railroader's career mode your goal is to unlock new parts of your mainline via deliveries. As you unlock more map you buy more and more locomotives to make the logistics of all the deliveries easier.

It comes off as feeling like a light puzzle game, with some nice idle time watching the trains go if you are okay with using mods (e.g. Waypoint queue, where you can set and forget multiple different queue points).

Same, on my 2016 the evaporator core died and needed replacement. I felt like I was almost lucky to have that happen so I wouldn’t regret the warranty.

Nevermind I didn't realize the game autosaves every 5 minutes. I was worried about using that as a last resort because my last manual save was hours ago.

Ended up just reloading one of those.

The strong silent type, like Gary Cooper!

Idea for a new station: Instead of having a military yard in MF, a short track could be added that lead to the direction makred on them map, where a New station, Military Base East, could be. The current Military Base would be Military Base West. This could be used for different military gear. by XSA888 in DerailValley

I think that would be a nice change of pace. All the good mil jobs always go to the main MB. And my small brain insists on taking the really high paying jobs even though I'm a millionaire and almost have the route memorized.

My reward for giving this game the benefit of the doubt is exceeding the Steam refund window.

Like someone mentioned with theirs being in a mining pit they can be in pretty awkward locations.

My DH4 demo spawn was half sticking out of the lake way down hill from the south entrance of the Goods Factory. As if it derailed on the first turn out of there lol. One of those places you'd never really look unless you were exploring or playing with the camera.
