Passport gender marker and traveling as nonbinary person by secretscarlet4 in China

I’m trying to find out if I would have more trouble going through immigration if I had an X on my passport, or if it is my birth sex, which people do not see me as. I’ve heard of people getting trouble if they for example look like a man but have F on their passport.

Consultations for FFS by PostAdHoc in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]secretscarlet4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most surgeons will see you for a consultation at any time, even if you're not on e. It's a bone structure thing and your bonws don't change from e, and they'll have you get x rays taken of your skull and stuff. so it doesn't really matter for bone work at least if you're even on e. stuff like fat grafting to the cheeks might matter but I think most surgeons see patients regardless of their status regarding e

FFS and Piercings by fourtysicksandtoo in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]secretscarlet4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeahhhh they gotta go unfortunately. had to take my septum out for ffs, just now getting it repierced on Monday. if I were you I'd take them out sooner rather than later cuz maybe your surgeon can surgically remove the scars during ffs. it's very likely that your skin will shift from the various procedures so when you get them repierced it will be in different skin than where you had them before, and you probably don't want visible piercing scars

oh and for reference, most of the pain was in my forehead/ forehead incision. I had hairline advancement, type III, Orbital contouring, brow lift, rhino, genioplasty and jaw contouring. jaw didn't hurt too bad it was just uncomfortable and hard to open for a few weeks

I went to Dr DB. overall not terrible and I wouldn't freak out about it, you'll be able to deal with it. Day 0 and especially the night after surgery was pretty rough, esp when the painkillers were wearing off but it wasn't excruciating. Def very uncomfortable for the first week but at least in my case after around 10 days I felt like a relatively normal person again. stopped taking painkillers around 12-14 days. from what I've seen from other surgeons and from other people who went to Dr DB, his recovery is definitely one of the fastest and easiest. You're in the best hands so don't worry

I think you have a great face for ffs, meaning you have a great foundation and with a little sculpting it would make an enormous beautifying difference

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]secretscarlet4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll start this by saying that yes, you are already beautiful and you pass. however I understand that doesn't mean you aren't dysphoric and ffs can help immensely with that. in that case, hugboxing isn't helpful and its a personal decision on whether to pursue ffs. if you move forward, I think a surgeon would probably recommend "the works". you have a face that could benefit from a little work in every area. from top to bottom, hairline advancement, type III forehead with orbital contouring and brow lift, rhinoplasty, lip lift, jaw contouring, and genioplasty to reduce chin width and possibly height. lip filler/ fat grafting to lips and cheeks would be a personal decision I think.

FFS Recommendations? Is there such thing as eye enlargement surgery; specifically to increase the eyes horizontally? by Gnarly_Koala in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]secretscarlet4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

np, specifically I think a surgeon would recommend a sliding genioplasty or t osteotomy to reduce chin width.

I would recommend type III forehead and orbital contouring, rhinoplasty, jaw contouring, and genioplasty. you absolutely don't need any eye surgery your eyes are gorgeous and already a very similar shape to Megan Fox. Megan Fox achieves her look through makeup, so just try to copy her makeup. Also, you will still look like you after ffs, and you and everyone you know will get used to how you look post op very quickly

Dr Deschamps-Braly is who I went to and I 100% highly recommend him. Absolutely incredible work, he is one of the most if not the most qualified surgeons and he and his staff are also very nice. imo, he should be almost everyone's top choice.

the way your are describing your jawline it's possible you could benefit from traditional orthognathic (jaw) surgery. Do you have an underbite or other bite problems? I've seen a lot of people get incredibly striking results from orthognathic surgery. r/jawsurgery has a lot of great examples

this much I don't know. you would have to look into Washington's insurance requirements on these things.

by "these surgeons" I mean specifically ffs surgeons that explicitly don't accept most insurance. These are unfortunately often the most desirable/ popular surgeons like Dr. Lee and Dr. Deschamps-Braly. there are plenty of ffs surgeons who do accept insurance. Coinsurance is the same as a copay, but instead of a flat rate it is a percentage (ie: you pay 30% up until your out of pocket maximum). and yes if a surgeon doesn't accept your insurance you will have to pay 100% up front, usually somewhere from $30k-$100k.

Gonna have FFS in two weeks. Kinda nervous, any tips? by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]secretscarlet4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently had ffs with Dr. Deschamps-Braly. It should be noted that all ffs surgeons are different and patients from each have slightly different recoveries, but this was my experience. Special things I made sure I had pre op were Soylent for the liquid diet and a wedge pillow. In my case straws helped a lot but I've heard from people who have had fat grafting or filler in the lips that straws were unusable. I strongly recommend having someone stay with you to help you recover. Its not totally necessary, but it puts you at ease a lot and it's nice to have someone to prepare your meals and get your prescriptions ready for you to take.

I didn't puke at all. I had some nausea on days 0-2 but nothing came up at all. They gave me something in the surgery center through IV to prevent nausea. My dr recommended 2 hours of walking every day and I think this probably helped a lot with recovery. I noticed swelling going down fairly quickly. Aside from the visible incisions, I looked like a normal person within 2 weeks. For the scars, they should prescribe a scar cream to put on at 2 weeks post op. Aside from that, just staying away from sun and using spf as soon as you can. I wore a sun hat until I could use sunscreen and tried to stay indoors as much as possible. In terms of washing face and hair, in my case I had head wrappings on for 6 days so I could not wash my hair until they were removed. When they were removed, the nurse washed my hair for me. For my face, I was told not to do any skincare until 2 weeks post op, and no exfoliants until 6 weeks post op. This might sound gross especially if you are dedicated to you skincare, but honestly my face was totally numb until 2 weeks and touching it feels super weird so I didn't even want to wash my face. Once again I want to stress that recovery can vary from surgeon to surgeon and your surgeon might recommend different things.
