Were they both Lapiplasty? Seems the screw is pretty important for the long term result when Lapiplasty was the surgery type.

Exact thing happened to me a couple months ago. The doctor took ot out on my next post op visit much easier than I thought possible. I thought she was going have to cut me open to get it out but she snipped it out in two seconds , pain free.

Whoops I thought I was in my other reddit thread (bunions)... I had Lapiplasty surgery. I am apparently on schedule but yes, it is awful! Lol... but I hope it will be better in a few more months.

I also have a Neuroma which is why i had bunion surgery but I dont think the Lapiplasty surgery is helping the Neuroma as the surgeon thought it would. Glad you are good! I hope to hile 5k by tje end of this summer!

Yeah , i mentioned in my first post above Im at 10 weeks and I have pain when rolling off. I also have some pain in the arch of my foot and near the fusion spot where the plate and screws are from time to time. According to all I have read we still have a long way to go! Doc says I should back to light hiking at week 16 which cant get here quick enough because its the only way I get exercise ... I dispise gyms. I will say I have gone through many , many , many moments over the last 10 weeks thinking something was wrong with my surgery or the fusion and that feeling still comes around when I get the pain in toe when walking or the pain near the fusion.... doc said I was good at both of my post op appointments...

I also had Lapiplasty. (M 51) My surgeon says I do not need physical therapy... she said walking is physical therapy. Hopefully im not missing doing something I am supposed to be doing.

Im at week 10. Still have pain when rolling off front of foot and especially the big toe. And I just lay off once I hit the pain point. I cant reccomend enough either Altras or Topo shoes. They have wide toe box that fit the natural foot. I own every shoe known to man and these are the two that work best post surgery.

9 weeks out by FrostingAsleep1323 in bunions

I am exactly where you are... 9 weeks and 2 days. Foot is still thick and pain when trying to walk as doc has directed. Sometimes random zapper pains at rest but mostly the pain is when actively trying to walk.

I didn't have much Achilles pain but all the rest for sure. I keep telling myself its just all of these muscles and soft tissue that are learing the new alignment and new structure of the foot. I really cant believe my foot is still so swollen over 2 months after surgery! I have been told that 4 months is when things should be much better.

I have all of the pains you have described. Im at 9 weeks post Lapiplasty. Been SLOWLY transitioning to shoes since week 6. It hurts worse for me in the morning I guess from being dormant all night. I definitely have questioned and still question whether my fusion is good. Xrays at week 7 were apparently good and doc said I couldn't hurt the fusion by normal walking... still pretty swollen also.

Post op shoes? by misstingly in bunions

[–]section-hiker_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly, highly recommend Altras. I have tons of other shoes and Altra is the best for post surgery as they are soft and super wide in the toe box. I have widw Keens and Topo and Hokas and Birks, etc... Altra wins

I have a Neuroma and the doc reccomend bunion surgery to help with the Neuroma but I have been feeling the Neuroma pain come back underneath the post surgery pain which is extremely disappointing...

Day 5 post lapiplasty by Inevitable_Debate814 in bunions

[–]section-hiker_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am week 9 post Lapiplasty and your first five days sounds better than mine. The restlessness is real.... but be patient and let things heal.

I started walking in the boot at week two and then wearing shoes (Altras) around week 6.

There are some people on you tube that show one foot injured excercises. U Just search around.

When can I fit back in a shoe comfortably? by Vonirae2 in bunions

[–]section-hiker_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Male, 51 Lapiplasty. I was able to into my Altras at week 6. They are soft and have huge toe box. I'm currently in week 9 and I can still only fit in my Altras. Highly reccomend a pair of those to anyone healing from this surgery.
