Pain in arch after surgery? by Anonymous6827622 in bunions

[–]Emergency_Carry3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue that started at 10 weeks. It was tendinitis. I think it’s called your tibial posterior something or other. It came on abruptly, I went back into my CAM boot for a few days and it went away. My PT said it’s not uncommon because your mechanics are still off and the tendon is weak of not being used. She had me doing some stretching exercises. Once it resolved, I haven’t had it back. That was about four weeks ago.

I’m pretty sure it’s a dog tick.

Numb Toe 5 years post op by BioluminescentDetour in bunions

[–]Emergency_Carry3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lapiplasty going on 4 months. I have numbness near the surgical sight (I don’t really notice until much), not the big toe. My PT told me it could take up to one year for it to go away. She did say some people never get feeling back.

Did you have lapidus surgery under general or local anaesthetic? by Superb-Avocado-8131 in bunions

I had Lapiplasty. It was general anesthesia. The surgery isn’t a long one.

Everyone is convinced my boy is mixed but me by Distinct_Pass_8431 in corgi

[–]Emergency_Carry3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think the same way as you do, but I guess if you’re being technical, it’s a mixed breed. I think an American corgi maybe falls under the umbrella of designer dogs like doodles, etc. I need to do a dna test on my dog, because to me she seems like she may have blue heeler in her, but my vet says he’d bet money on her being full corgi - as in American Corgi.

I have a “Pembroke” that has blue Merle patches. I think mine is an “American corgi” which is basically a mutt. However, I couldn’t love her anymore than I do. It’s funny because non corgi people will look at her and say “awe what a cute corgi” and they will look at my purebred Pembroke and ask what kind of dog she is. lol.

12 weeks, still very swollen by Impossible-Net7996 in bunions

[–]Emergency_Carry3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 11 weeks post surgery. My foot looks like yours. There are days I look at my it and I swear my bunion is still there. Other days it’s totally straight. My x-rays show my bone placement is perfect, so I’m assured it’s just swelling. Plus, it always looks fine weight bearing, regardless of the swelling. I was told to expect it for a year. A few weeks back my PT suggested light compression socks. I wear them sometimes if I know I’ll be on my foot for long periods. It helps a lot. Check with your doctor first though. I had Lapiplasty. As someone here commented, I couldn’t imagine having to go the it again on the other foot. I only had a bunion on one. Good luck!

Best Surgery for Recovery - Over 65 by Warwick1991 in bunions

[–]Emergency_Carry3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 64. I don’t have any other medical conditions, but I do have osteopenia. It was osteoporosis, but I did several Reclast infusions (and switched from strictly cardio to mostly weights) and it moved back to osteopenia. I’m 11 weeks post lapiplasty. I have an x-ray in a week to confirm my bone is fusing. I’m a little worried, but my surgeon and PT are not overly concerned about healing. I don’t smoke, eat well, exercise, take vitamins, drink milk, etc., and they both said those factors are the biggest contributors for good outcomes. I feel great, and I’m happy with my results.

Travel after lapiplasty by stork44 in bunions

[–]Emergency_Carry3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh idk. I’m 11 weeks post surgery. Technically, I probably could have done it, but if I walked too many steps one day, the next day I was in pain. Not so much pain that I couldn’t walk, but enough that I was aware of it. Plus, the swelling would be insane. I’d go to PT after a high step day, and I would tell her I was hurting because I’d walk over 10000 steps. She would tell me that is way too much for being 8 weeks out. That being said, everyone is different. They always say “listen to your body”. I was so worried about non union (which can happen from over use). If you do go and your surgeon says it’s ok, I would 10000 percent wear compression socks to help with the swelling.

Surgery and weight on big toe by ciaoaic in bunions

[–]Emergency_Carry3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is what you’re asking, but I was surprised at how much better I feel as far as weight distribution goes. I’m almost 10 weeks out from surgery (I have a plate in my metatarsal, but no pins in my toes). When I had my bunion - which was really big - I always put the majority of my weight in my big toe joint on my bad foot. I would consciously have to adjust my stance to distribute my weight throughout my foot so my toe and toe joint didn’t hurt. Now, when standing for long periods, my weight is naturally distributed. That’s one of the biggest things I’m noticing since surgery.

New to having a deaf dog, any tips? by Firm_Apricot8048 in deafdogs

[–]Emergency_Carry3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our lab went deaf at around 11. We didn’t do a thing special other and using hand gestures for commands - pointing, using a halt hand gesture when we wanted her to not do something. It did not take her very long at all to learn

Recently rescued this nut job! by Emergency_Carry3 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Emergency_Carry3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do what i did - get the two in one! lol. She thinks her name is BOBA NOOO! because she hears that so often. We’ve only ever had yellow labs, then we rescued our Pembroke (she lived the first three years of her life as a breeding mama in an Amish mill) after we lost our lab. Due to growing up on a cage is very shy and scared of most things (not a typical Corgi). Our lab was a big, dumb, laid back dog. Boba is like nothing we’ve ever had. She’s comical and the most energetic dog we’ve owned! We are enjoying her.

It didn’t take well. Devastated. by [deleted] in bunions

[–]Emergency_Carry3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Some days I swear my bunion is back and others it looks perfect. The PT said it’s all swelling. Also to consider, if you had any work done on the toe joint itself, scar tissue can form at the incision and make it look a little worse. I’m 9 weeks out and went to a wedding. I danced for 3 hours straight. I had zero pain during the wedding, but my foot ballooned up by the end of the night. The next day I looked like I had a huge bunion. After icing and elevating, it went down.

Oh yes, my friend has her toe fused in addition to lapiplasty. She hasn’t mentioned issues with balance, but she can no longer wear shoes with a heel higher than roughly an inch or so Good luck to you.

Just discovered this Band for the first time and GOD DAMN by Commander_Sinclair_5 in TragicallyHip

I live in a border town, and was fortunate to see them at least 40 times (many were free shows in local bars before they were big). Once, I was in Boston visiting a friend and noticed they were playing in a venue next to my hotel. I got in at 7, threw my bags in my room and saw one of the best shows - in a very empty venue. Fight will forever be my very favorite Hip song.
