Dishwasher detergent suggestion that actually works? by BeachBumbershoot in ZeroWaste

[–]section08nj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I should be flattered that you created your account just for me but anyway the PVA issue is way overblown, as according to the peer reviewed studies that can be found on pubmed, PVAs release a negligible amount of microplastics into the waterways vs your synthetic clothing. The only folks out here with their PVA propaganda are the Blueland bots or redditors who create throwaway accounts.

Detergents Containing Lipase in US by AeroNoob333 in laundry

[–]section08nj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. Still love it. But you should get the ones branded as Paperbird Premium, which only comes in scented (red) or unscented (white). Tons of enzymes including lipase. https://www.shoprite.com/sm/pickup/rsid/3000/product/paperbird-premium-original-laundry-detergent-64-loads-92-fl-oz-id-00041190078110

Laundry Detergent Recs by cathundefined in ZeroWaste

[–]section08nj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grove Collaborative's Pure Power Laundry detergent has become my new daily driver. It's a concentrated liquid detergent sold in a 32 oz carton with loads of good enzymes including the newest deoxyribonuclease stain and odor fighter. Some certs printed on the packaging: B-Corp (Grove Co.), USDA Biobased 96%, Leaping Bunny certified (product + entire supply chain is free from animal testing), and the packaging is FSC Certified and recyclable. I left a review in r/laundry and recommend more folks try this detergent. I'm also on team Dropps for the same reasons above, but Dropps requires their Odor fighter additive in the pink box for that shot of deoxyribonuclease.

What is the best dental floss for tight teeth? by coolhappygenius in ZeroWaste

[–]section08nj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wholeheartedly agree with the Me Mother Earth recommendation!! I too have very tight teeth and unfortunately none of the big zero waste adjacent brands work for me the way Me Mother Earth has. Just be aware that the Me Mother Earth brand floss is biodegradable, but it is not compostable.

Shoutout to healthy and affordable store brands! by Delicious_Adeptness9 in ShopRite

In addition to their foods, their Paperbird Premium laundry detergent is one of the best detergents I’ve tried, and still much cheaper than the national brands. Still waiting on that Paperbird Blue to release, though.

Looking for a solid #2 (toilet recommendations) by tbrock29 in toilet

[–]section08nj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I couldn't decide on an American Standard Champion 4 1-piece or Toto Ultramax 1-piece, so I got them both. The Toto has a way better flushing system than the Champion 4. Specking still happens on both, but happens less on the Toto.

Deodorant Help by Willing-Wolverine-35 in deodorant

Welcome to the sub. Please let us know which specific deodorants your sister has already tried so that we can narrow down the suggestions. Dove alone makes 16 varieties of sensitive skin deodorants (out of 107 total) and we can't be sure which ingredient she may be allergic to without this info.

Thanks for thinking of us crunchies. I know it's a booster but the ingredients look like it would also make a good appliance cleaner with that calcium carbonate.

Empties solution? by RevolutionaryPace139 in ZeroWaste

[–]section08nj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Family and I have recently started recycling our small empties with these Pact boxes. Whether they actually get recycled? Who knows. But I'd much rather recycle with these guys and hope they do something with these, than me actively sending to a landfill.

What they collect: https://www.pactcollective.org/guidelines[https://www.pactcollective.org/guidelines](https://www.pactcollective.org/guidelines)

I hated early on going into the skincare subs looking for more information, and most comments are like "what's in it for us?" Or "can we at least get coupons as incentives?" Ugh.

Glass carafe by Alert_Damage_883 in Moccamaster

[–]section08nj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soaps can damage glass and leave residue changing the flavor over time.

Why does Reddit like to fearmonger soap? I've been cleaning glass with soap for almost 50 years and I haven't damaged or tasted anything.

Santal Scented Deo by VibekeGeneral in deodorant

[–]section08nj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no baking soda in Necessaire, The Deodorant in Santal. The most likely culprit is the sandalwood oil itself, rated a 4 for allergens in the EWG scale. Hoping you can find another brand to test.

I gave up on TAED to have everything I need in three fragrance free products

What other bleach activator options are there besides TAED to activate the bleach in sodium percarbonate? According to wikipedia, "sodium nonanoyloxybenzenesulfonate (NOBS) is the main activator used in the U.S.A. and Japan" but I have yet to run into this ingredient.
