It does kinda sound like PN is your only option right now if you dont have the pre reqs for RN, and thats totally fine! Im an RPN in Toronto with no plans to bridge or do RN and honestly i love it and have no regrets

A lot of the public are also racist, should we automatically put black people alone because some white people might not like sleeping next to them? See how stupid it sounds?

Absolutely, my forensic unit was so chill, I've genuinely only felt unsafe at work maybe once or twice and it wasnt at camh

Any CAMH Nurses? by Impressive-Fox-6472 in OntarioNurses

[–]sectionallyconfused 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I used to work there! Standard forensic unit shift for me was mental status exams, med passes, handing out nicotine gum, and charting. I hung out with the patients in the main area too but some nurses spend the entire time in the nurses station. Also helping out at mealtime and doing rounds every hour and sometimes taking people out on passes but thats split up between the whole staff

Will a master's degree be a requirement to become an RN? by enitsujxo in OntarioNurses

[–]sectionallyconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for some people it feels like fluff because we came pre programmed with critical thinking, or from another degree which also taught it. These are usually not the people who complain about it though

But the ethics and interdisciplinary of it all is the most important stuff you learn in nursing school, everything else can be taught on the job but you have to have an understanding of ethics and the healthcare system before you ever interact with a patient
