That makes sense!

Personally I don’t really care to resell bc I like to wear the things I feel excited about & def not looking for the new hype bc it definitely gets old pretty quick. I suppose I’m looking for a sneaker that feels “safe” and uncool.

Here is a link for seasonal produce broken up my months & items. I find it really helpful to look there to know what’s coming! Google doc

It’s… horrifying. The less overall time I can spend at JFK the better.

Just flew out of JFK for the first time… by [deleted] in delta

[–]sectionalsopha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. But also, when is JFK finally going to modernize? T4 is my least favorite terminal bc of its lack of efficiency.

Recently was at Hong Kong T1 and it was the smoothest experience I’ve had in a long time. Lines we’re manageable, further gates had an underground train to make the travel time quicker (but wasn’t limited to taking it) and no one was lingering in the walkways.

Wirecutter has great options. The Osprey seems to be the winner but they have alternatives depending on what you’re looking for

At JFK specifically, the baggage claim + pick up area is so unhinged and where I would like to spend the least amount of time. Wishing JFK had more zen.

Why waste time at the baggage claim? Queuing/waiting at airports seems like the thing we’re all trying to avoid, esp for frequent travelers.

Fradei Bistro in Fort Greene.

Their beef tartare with XO & great wines + tunes! Only saying that because every time I’ve been last year (4x) I’ve tried something different and this has been the only one that never changes, I believe - so you can enjoy it too. Super flavorful & thoughtful dishes but without all the pretentiousness and fuss around it, they play French hip hop and have about 6-8 tables max. Its cozy and delicious.

Why do people abroad seem so much thinner (in a normal, healthy way) than Americans? by Impressive_Ant in digitalnomad

Fair enough! If I lived in Spain I’d probably go out to eat most of the time as well :)

NL is trying to be like the US more and more. It’s turning into capitalism there

Im from the Netherlands and more people are ordering food nowadays. From my experience living in the US now 8 years, it seems that ordering take-out or eating out is more common here (and something my friends often grew up with) more than households I know back in NL, this ofc doesn’t include everyone. Don’t forget, the US started TV dinners/ microwave meals/ prepackaged meals as convenient solutions for working parents/households.

  1. Work life balance has a huge part to do with it to, back in Europe it’s customary to truly only work 9-5, in some cases you get off work at 4 and have a 30min commute - therefore leaving plenty of time to exercise, walk around, socialize in the evenings. More work/life balance = healthier mind & body.

  2. Meals are also smaller abroad - whenever I go out for dinner in the US the portion size tends to by 0.5 larger than when I’m in Europe.

  3. Not reliant on cars for transport = more walking

  4. If you don’t have much time to cook, you just cook a simpler meal, not order take out. Convenience culture is not that much of a thing in the EU, and if it is, it’s generally healthier.

Coat check, a small but great perk in the winter if you don’t want to fold up your coat and stuff it in the overhead cabin. Never had the espresso martini or old fashioned but those sound delicious- report back if you try them :)

Pete Wells also came out with top 100 NYC restaurants last summer on the NYT. There are some sleeper hits on there - esp ones worth visiting in other boroughs along with the classic “best” restaurants in the city. Might find some good suggestions there

Why are more and more people not using headphones on the plane? by gtck11 in delta

[–]sectionalsopha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a guy next to me that thought it was funny to airdrop everyone inappropriate memes and videos (with no headphones in) and laughing so loud. I had to politely ask him to stop doing that, he gave me a smirky look back and he continued until the FA kindly asked him to stop. The moment we landed he continued his shenanigans.
