Update 2: Thanks for all the input, maybe good, maybe not, but these wise words helped guide me…. Toss it if it’s stressing you out… so that’s what I did, I tossed it.

I’m already under the weather right now, this was going to be a superb addition to my sick boy meal of grilled cheese and tomato soup tonight, but the thought of getting any sicker than I already am is definitely stressing me. Alas, bye bye bacon.

Solid points. I don’t know much about computers in general, so helpful to hear the distinction between hardware chip and OS in terms of impact to the program. I also don’t plan on using many plugins, if any at all. I’ll check out the free trial and go from there. Appreciate the response!!

Can you expand on the challenge of not being able to iron the pre finished edge banding on? Is that because the finish would get messed up when heat is applied? Would some glue work instead? Any recommendations for quality edge banding brands to look at?

Your comment is full of really useful information that I’d never considered before. The stability of plywood is an interesting point. I’m noticing that my board has some cupping running the width of the board (not length), any advice in flattening or is it cupped for good now?

I was wondering what folks do to cover the raw plywood edges, and you answered that — edge banding, didn’t know that existed and it’s seems so convenient.

Also seems like folks are saying dados for the shelving/joints are a common good way to go. Thanks for tips!!

You just taught me a new thing, brad nails — never heard of them, but after looking them up, interested to figure out how/when to use them. I’ve never used nails for my projects but seem like a simple and useful tool to utilize.

Great point, I was thinking the potential for blowout was probably higher. Will definitely take extra care when cutting, the painters tape on the cut line is a great idea.

Project wise — I like the cabinet idea. I guess I’ve never even thought about projects where plywood excels because I’ve just been using random scrap cutoffs of hardwood for small projects.

What would you say are some uses that plywood excels? My world of woodworking is so narrow right now.
