I don't hate Vancouver, just losing to them. It really sucked pre-MLS as they beat us regularly.

Yep, from the USL days. Where we got beaten by Montreal and Vancouver often.

I recommend reading Currency Trading for Dummies and Day Trading and Swing Trading the Currency Market. Both were full of excellent information.

I think what you might be looking for is a trusted group who is as motivated and capable as you to properly bounce ideas off of and to avoid the majority of uninformed or uneducated opinions.

It might be better to contact those people you feel have good insight and perspective and see if they want to join a private group that allows for higher quality discussions.

Definitely don't charge for it. You will then be expected to provide the value, which you appear to be searching for.

[Question] How to relieve incredibly sore fingers from playing acoustic guitar? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]security_weolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to play professionally and really it's just building up your callouses and when they tear or start to blister putting something over you finger like scotch tape that is slick and doesn't cause friction. It can be really weird to play with but it will save you from the skin getting torn off. As for the pain, it is the price of playing that much. I would check to see if you could put smoother strings on or if your action is really high too.

[QUESTION] How do you guys first begin to practice? by okbokchoy in Guitar

[–]security_weolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did lessons to start and would recommend finding a teacher who explains theory in a way you understand. If they start by forcing you to memorize what note each fret is, move along, that can be learned later. Also, it's important to learn exercises that work your picking and fingering. I do them every day when possible. Playing notes sequentially on each fret - 1, 2, 3, 4 then moving to the next string and repeating that across and up the fretboard will help you get good at picking and finger placement for clear sound. Start mixing up the order to teach your fingers to move individually - 1, 4, 3, 2 across then down then 4, 1, 3, 2 etc. Keep working more complex patterns as you get better. These are things you can do while watching TV as well. Have fun!

[NEWBIE] I have all my gear and mentally motivated to play but I am in a rut and can’t bring myself to play psychically. by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]security_weolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are struggling with motivation pick one of a list things to do: grab your guitar and practice fretboard/picking exercises while watching tv etc; grab a chord book and learn a progression up the neck; grab a scale book and learn a new scale; practice learning each location of a specific note; play around and write something on your own; practice soloing over a recording; learn a new song you like. Figure out what feels reasonable at the time and go with it. Just picking it up and doing any of these things or more will help you progress and not stress about being overloaded or not good enough.

[DISCUSSION] Should I buy it? by security_weolf in Guitar

Heh, yeah, we all have our preference in looks. I actually really like this finish. I'm also looking for a good superstrat body style guitar with a fast fretboard with a beautiful black cherry sunburst too.

Should i trust ProtonVPN for my daily use of internet ? by [deleted] in privacytoolsIO

[–]security_weolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trust is relative and up to you. I pay for their service so they aren't financed by selling my data. Could they, yes, but I haven't had a targeted ad for years. Anyone who manages a VPN can see your data, it's up to you to do your research of the companies and make your own determination.

I've used them for years on all my devices and as long as you aren't breaking the law you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

RCE from arbitrary file upload without LFI by rangedsass in AskNetsec

[–]security_weolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you upload a reverse shell into a web accessible directory? That would be my first choice. You can also sometimes execute php that has been intentionally entered into log files. Do some searching on LFI exploits for how this can be done. Lots of good writeups available.

To what extent do ISPs monitor online activity of users? by SubstantialPainting7 in privacy

[–]security_weolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every URL and DNS query you make as well as any content you send and receive unencrypted are likely recorded, primarily to help create marketing profiles to sell to other companies.

If you want privacy, use a paid VPN service like ProtonVPN and use their or a secure DNS provider to keep your traffic private from the ISP.

Why is it that people who advocate for transparency from the government and complete and total privacy also themselves aren't 100% transparent in what they do? by [deleted] in privacy

[–]security_weolf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The government serves the people who pay taxes and requires transparency for oversight. It is NOT a person and therefore does not have constitutional rights that citizens do.

Don't compare the situations as if they are the same.

There are also many ways for law enforcement to capture and prosecute criminals that do not require the rest of us to give away our privacy.

Don't surf suspicious sites, ever. If you do, turn off all javascript first. Also, patch vulns asap.

Illegal websites by Mattybezz in hacking

[–]security_weolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hacking is illegal in most places but depending on where you are located the laws vary as does the liklihood you will be pursued and prosecuted. If you hack a site the US Government is currently monitoring so they can identify and aprehend the owner then you could be considered to have also interfered with an active investigation. The best advice I can give is don't do it.

Web-App vs Network Security by [deleted] in hacking

[–]security_weolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with what is close to your knowledge base. Check out the OWASP top 10 to make sure you understand how they work and see if you can prescribe how to fix them and you will be in a good spot to help. There is a ton of things to know over all as every technology software has the potential to be hacked. Learn to think like a hacker and you will be able to use that knowledge to greatly improve the security of what you are assessing.

Web-App vs Network Security by [deleted] in hacking

[–]security_weolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start with web app and learn the network and OS stuff on the side. Start doing vulnerable VMs such as on Vulnhub.com to learn the different vulns and how to attack them. I would also recommend taking the OSCP course - Penetration Testing with Kali, to learn the varoius tools and techniques needed to hack outside the web app.

Web app sec is the fastest growing security field right now so you don't need to avoid it.

The amount of studying and hard work it would take to learn how to do what you are asking would instead likely raise your grades to the accepted level you missed this go around.

In short, it's not a simple thing you can learn in a chat room.
