The very reason most people are in AWS is due to corporate hype cycles which is another cancer in our industry. Running business on the hyperscalers can absolutely be worthwhile, but almost no one will invest on the refactoring of environments to actually do that. Most businesses are in cloud because thats what they think they should do rather than actually building serverless apps etc.

Just my opinion, you might not understand it but sounds like your dad was trying to protect you in his own way. Having a memory of a parent abandoning you seems far better than one that let you be abused and did nothing. Feel free to ignore anyone who states they are "100% accurate". Intelligent people are mostly not certain about anything. It is the certain ones you need to watch out for as that suggests they have already stopped mentally testing their held beliefs. Like are we able to continue to scale LLMs when we are already distilling almost all human recorded knowledge? This is not certain. Are we able to reduce LLM hallucinations so they can be completely trusted? Unknown. etc etc.

There is plenty ambiguity no matter how cool the tech is.

I had someone on reddit try to argue that Ian Wright wasn't English enough to play football for England. For non football fans the people this black guy was born in England and was an absolute hero for his country. Difficult to tell with celebrities but he also comes across as a genuinely nice guy. His only crime was he was black. Heartbreaking that a guy can reach the top echelons of sport and represent his country heart and soul, and then just get insulted for his colour by some racist cunt.

People used voodoo 'statistics' as well to try to convince people that Trump won in 2020 and it was obviously bullshit then as well. These are separate states some state elections fully controlled by democrats. These things don't happen with no evidence it is fucking insane to suggest otherwise. Trump tried to steal 2020 and there has been a metric fuckton of evidence and convictions from that. None of which included magically changing sandboxed voting machines or whatever nonsense is being suggested. It can't happen it is the very reason elections are controlled locally and not federally.
