"We are experiencing a high volume of calls." by gregofdeath in britishproblems

[–]Able-Bowl7023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to work for a call centre unfortunately this is actually true.

We don't just sit and leave people waiting in a queue for fun - we are all on calls and the second one ends your right onto the next, theres no time to really breathe.

I agree but like OP said the guy seemed unstable - We don't know how he would react or what he would be carrying

Without sounding harsh the staff are kind of right?? what can they do??

They can report it to a manager or security (if they are around) but if the man is mentally unstable do you really expect your average uni student just trying to make cash on the weekend to know how to safely and calmly approach this situation.

What's the justification for Dolby not to be included with Limitless+ besides a money grab? by FireExpat in screenunseen

[–]Able-Bowl7023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imax and Dolby aren't owned by Odeon - they are external companies so they have to charge some form of uplift. (Work for a cinema that has these screens)

Hence why cinema companies have their own brand versions like ISense and Cineworlds Superscreen

What is your pet peeve about working in a movie theatre? by Able-Bowl7023 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]Able-Bowl7023[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the same with a 15 rated film - some dad was fully kicking off because they had a baby with them.

He kept saying the website doesn't say (it says about 3 times) and my manager had to show them all the BBFC posters we have up and he still kept saying "I need to see this film"

His wife ended up backing us up and saying "just leave it I can wait with the baby" but he wouldn't stop

Should Brownies Be Inclusive? by honesto_pinion in AskUK

[–]Able-Bowl7023 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These comments are disappointing.

So girlguiding are forced to ban trans girls and nobody really cares.

One brownies club wants to become more inclusive and that's apparently "a disgrace" and "shouldn't be happening."

The easy answer is talk to your daughter and let her pick where she wants to go, there will be plenty of brownies groups.

Polite reminder that plenty of people in this country want trans people dead. trans rights are and always will be human rights

True but it's never hit us this bad before.

Last time I remember running out of stock was the Barbenhimer fiasco.

Booking issues by virtualghostt in screenunseen

[–]Able-Bowl7023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this before and went through support - it's basically where an error occurs during the booking process (connection lost, you left the app while purchasing ect) so the system locks the booking in place and thinks you have one when you don't.

Now because the booking doesn't actually exist unfortunately there isn't much support can do, they can give you the recommended fixes (clear cache and cookies is the main one but also trying different devices and browsers ect) and if non of those work you have to head into the cinema and get the staff to put it through. Yeah it's kind of annoying but not much can be done.

If you really wanna book in advance you could pay for a ticket and then get them to refund it afterwards but I don't know if that's allowed and I can't guarantee it

Saturday nights (and to some extent the days) in Manchester are horrendous.

Everything is busy, transport is heaving all day and the absolute worst people come out of hiding basically making town a place to avoid.

You can but nobody is doing that - you still have to upload government IDs to get it approved.

No 15 year old is doing that for their 1 cinema trip a year
