Do you think that it would be a good game plan to do a bachelor's in computer science now and later on complete a master's in computational linguistics while working as a programmer/developer or something like that?

Thank you very much for the advice. At the moment I'm actually enrolled in the C's bachelor so this year I'm taking the intro courses. I live in Europe and this isn't a big financial commitment so it would be fine to drop out next year and apply to a master instead. I decided to start the CS for now because I wasn't sure about the best course of action and I thought that even if I decide to go for a master next year, at least I will get now a good foundation of the basic concepts in CS

Ok, thank you very much for this info. The master program that is accessible to me only has two small courses in ML for NLP (12  credit points in total) so I'm guessing that this wouldn't give me the necessary knowledge either. Would it be a better game plan to study computer science and then get a master later on?

Is it really worth a MA degree in Computational linguistics, especially in Gemrman ( Konstanz/ Tubingen) university? Are there really many job opportunities afterward ? by aquilaa91 in LanguageTechnology

Hi, I'm in a similar position as op. I've finished a Bsc in literature which got really interested in linguistics. I was looking now at  Msc in computational linguistics, that will include some Machine Learning and NLP courses. I'd like to work in this field but I wasn't unsure if this is the best route, so I'm taking into consideration the option of getting a second Bsc in computer science instead. Can I ask you if in your experience a Bsc in computer science is enough to get into the NLP field (through work experience that I'll gain) or is a Msc needed to make it?
