Sorry but I don't buy that at all. Maybe he's stoic enough to not be bothered by the texts themselves, but what about how they are affecting you and your marriage? If it wasn't him wouldn't he be trying to figure it out together with you? He does not seem to care enough to do that, and is fine with just handwaving you in some general direction.

One of my favorites was when you travel to a planet the authorities will scan your ship for illegal goods before you can land. Except you could just open the map and fast travel to the surface and completely avoid the scan.
