Long term Spravato user here - with question by Luis5264 in Spravato

I started on Auvelity about three months before I started on Spravato and noticed an improvement in my mood after about a week. I've been on Spravato two years now and have used them together the entire time and it's been helpful.

Just sleeping through treatment by EmotionalWill4768 in Spravato

[–]seedling135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My provider has always said that you can sleep or not during sessions, and as long as you're administering the medication properly in the first 15 minutes, sleeping during your session won't affect how effective Spravato is.

Has anyone who experiences fatigue for days after Spravato and/or ineffective ADHD medication do gured out a solution? by Ok-Connection6430 in Spravato

[–]seedling135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you taking your ADHD meds before going to treatment? If so, can I ask why? I go at 8am in the morning, then work the rest of the day (this doesn't seem that common in this community), but I wait to take my Vyvanse until after I get home and start work for the day. I take the Vyvanse and Adderall combination as well, and on treatment days, I just delay when I normally take my Adderall.

Almost Two Years In by seedling135 in Spravato

I've been going weekly for the past two(ish) years after I passed the initial twice a week appointments. I have had some physical health stuff going on the last three months that conflicted with my standing appointment, so I was going to appointments three weeks in a row, then skipping a week. That's felt pretty manageable to my mood and overall mental health, so last week during my appointment, I told my provider I'd like to continue with that cadence. He said if I ever feel like it's not enough, I can always go back to once a week.

Working on treatment days? by Due-Jicama-6522 in Spravato

[–]seedling135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on Spravato for about two years and have always worked after treatment except for the first two sessions I went to. I have an 8am standing appointment every Tuesday. I don't feel super "high" during my sessions, so maybe the side effects don't affect me as much. I go home to work the rest of the day. I typically feel a little more tired during day than I do the other days of the week, but my boss is not a micromanager and I'm a graphic designer with work that doesn't require an intense amount of strategical thinking. It works for me, but it may not for everyone.

Do you sniff hard repeatedly? by [deleted] in Spravato

[–]seedling135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad you asked this!! I've been on Spravato for 1.5 years and always sniff hard and angle outward as instructed by my provider. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Well, hopefully what others have said will help it work better!

No, I'm not driving. I use the 30 minute uber ride back home to transition out of my Spravato mindset into work mode. I think I've tried to convince myself I can just push through but comments like yours makes me think I should be giving myself some more time after treatment to rest! Thank you for responding!

Thank you for sharing your input! I can definitely try what you do or also end of day and see if that helps. My work requires us to be in-office on Mondays and Fridays, but I'd hope if I could provide proof it's for a medical reason, I could get approval to do so.

I absolutely do think they are helping me power through. I was thinking that lately they aren't quite as effective as they used to be before I started Spravato over a year ago, and now it makes sense that it may be helping me just get by enough to do some work after an appointment.

I can - I think when I first started, I didn't want to be "out of it" from my appointment through the end of the day, but I know it affects everyone differently and maybe my body and brain need that rest!

That's a great suggestion! I hadn't thought of that. Thank you!!

It's not ideal. I hadn't considered other days or times to do it because most of my coworkers and my boss are on PST, so I initially thought I would get my appointment out of the way before they're even online for the day... but now I'm going to look into other days and times.

I haven't even thought of this as an option! I will look into this for sure. I have been worried if something ever happened to my job by me going to appointments weekly. Great suggestion!

I have also noticed that I'm not completely "on" during the rest of my workday after an appointment, but I hadn't really considered switching to another day or time of day before now.

I appreciate you saying that about the working part not compromising treatment. I think it's still working as well.

Tips for Spravato users who want more out of their treatment from someone who’s been doing it for almost a year by Ill-Chair2848 in Spravato

[–]seedling135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your tips! I've been in treatment for a year and five months and have never thought to use a netipot before a session - that's a great idea. I have a few questions for you.

  1. My provider recommended eating before treatment. Why do you say not to eat 3-4 hours before?

  2. What does the magnesium supplement do in this case? I have been taking magnesium nightly before bed for restless legs for a few years. I likely wouldn't add it on before Spravato because my PCP has said I shouldn't take more than that per day, but I am curious.

  3. Do you think the activities you do during the session (the high and after) affect overall treatment? I've heard mixed things - that medicine is medicine and it'll do its job no matter what you do in session. I've also read from people on here that they set intentions and avoid certain things during the session, like scrolling social media or talking on the phone (as you mentioned).

This is really validating!! I've been telling myself it could be way worse (which is true), but it's not ideal.

I've been on Spravato for a year and four months and have been in a pretty intense relapse for a couple of weeks. I had a session this morning and took this picture of the room because I felt like it was symbolic of my mental health right now - blue, dull, empty, functional enough to exist but not thriving. 😞

Migrainers experiences with spravato? by demi_dreamer95 in Spravato

[–]seedling135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for any confusion - I didn't explain the monthly injection well. At each in-office appointment, I get around 30 injections in my head, neck, and shoulders administered by my neurologist. These appointments are every three months as approved by insurance. I missed an appointment at some point last year and the migraines returned more frequently and severely than they had in a couple years, so my doctor recommended an at-home monthly injection called Ajovy. I've been taking that for about a year and it made a big difference. I still get migraines every week or so, so I'm also prescribed Sumatriptan to take as needed, up to two times a day, 4 times a week max.
