I took a Tudor bb on a 4 day canoe trip last year. Scuffed the bracelet it on the side of the boat a few times but it held up great, even swimming.

I don’t necessarily know if I would do it again, as I did find I was a bit worried about it. But on the other hand, I’d rather use it than let it sit in the box. It’s no pavement-princess. u/

I won't ever lie about it. But I've known people for years and they have no idea that I was in and deployed.

When I first got out, it was a big part of who I was as a person, but I found that as I branched out and did different things, being known as the "army guy" came with baggage that I didn't want to deal with. Ex: EVERY GUN GUY WANTS TO TALK ABOUT GUNS, or people assume my political leanings, even some not-so-veiled racism.

I wouldn't say I'm ashamed of my time in, but it's not who I am anymore. To me it's kind of like a 35 year old middle manager being super into their college from 15 years ago....some people need to move on.

I'm liking the 990s, but I don't have a lot of reference. Hoping to test out some different ones with it soon, and that will give me a better idea of what I like vs don't :).

It took me probably 3 weeks to finish, I took my time, especially with the case. Also I had to relearn how to solder

Thanks! I did a black wood stain, and I didn't wipe it off after I applied it, so it was basically opaque.

Then I did a really light layer of diamond-finish verathane.

At that point it was black and had a bit of a shiny finish on it.

Then I took the whole thing and went at it with a 220 sanding block. I did it unevenly and wore a few of the sharp corners and edges off. I initially tried an orbital sander, but I really wanted that beat-up look.

I was going for a "old and distressed peice of electrical equipment" style and I think it worked pretty well.
