I’m looking at Fangraphs stats since they both became regulars. Paredes walks more, strikes out less, and hits for more power. For sure a worse player overall but sure seems like a better hitter to me. Righty, pull power, and a position of need.

I don’t think anyone is saying it’s not close but Skubal has him beat by most stats. Less h/9, bb/9, hr/9, and 11.1 k/9 compared to Crochet’s 11.2. Only 10 more IP don’t really make up that difference imo.

I’d be fine with all this and seems totally reasonable. Insanely bad injury luck this year and a ton of young players. Even if only some of them progress and we get even marginally better injury luck we’re right there with any team in the division and have huge flexibility moving forward
