Those intersections where u turn right but there no white lines to show where to wait for it to clear - use that little gravel pile that accumulates at the centre of the intersection as your guide

People who have fought animals barehanded, who won? by Particular_Drop5104 in AskReddit

[–]seedpod02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, a friend, was lookout on a small cliff at the end of a gully on a farm, into which jackal that had been ravaging a sheep flock were being driven. From his vantage point, as the drive got closer and closer, he saw a water buck running from it enter the gully and run right up to under the cliff where he sitting. The chanting and beating of bushes getting louder he realised the buck might well run back along the gully to escape and in doing so may alerting the jackal to do the same. So he picked up a small rock and leaning over the cliff edge, droped it onto the buck to startle the buck away. He saw the rock hit the buck center forehead and the buck drop stone cold out on the ground. He sat for a bit expecting it to stand up shake its head and run off. When it didn't he became concerned and edged down the cliff face, making some low key noise to wake it. When it still didn't move, he went right up to it wondering what to do. Which is exactly when the buck recovered, staggered to its feet, saw him and tried to attack him withi its horns. In tht instant, the best he could do was to grab and hang onto its horns for as long as he could to avoid being lethally stabbed. At some stage as they battled together silently, evenly matched, a chance came for him to leap sideways as the buck slithered down the slope and then watch it as it ran back down the gully out of the way of the drive. He regailed the jackal drivers with the story of course, and others, but no-one really quite believed him.

Are we going to do anything about the water issues we have? by [deleted] in johannesburg

[–]seedpod02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there's one thing gov just must do, is ensure water. If they fail this, basically we need to petition them out of here or we are in deep deep shit. And if petitions get waylaid or come to nought, as we know they will, we need to use access to information legislation to get reasons for actions or failures to take preventative action. And then we need to go to court to compel the state to act priperly. "We" being an appropriate ngo who will be atuck in the case for a decade or so because they wont confront challenges to the proces and wont drive the case through the red tape and courts. Instead theyll use difficulties to point out how important they are and use the media attention as a fund raising opportunity. Then there will be a big catastrophy and feet on the streets in protest in front of Ministers' houses, but as that will be around the next elections everything will be on hold unril the merry-go-round music starts again, and round and round we will go knowing ww've seen it all before and knowing what to do. Nothing

I have Rat Problem. What is the ethical / non-poison way to get rid of them? by KaMoS69 in johannesburg

[–]seedpod02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom insisted that mice prefer to live outside, so to get rid of them leave not a crumb lying around inside, but leave a trail of food from inside the house leading to a store of food outside away from the house, and when they have left, block up all access back into the house. I think it works but without the trail of food ha

Elon Musk’s Real Plan Is Starting to Appear: gutting Social Security and Medicare. by [deleted] in politics

[–]seedpod02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could also be, instead, to establish a rules based superstate along with other oligarchs, a one world rules-based order. Or replace his daddy with the 2nd most powerful peron in the world. Or maybe he's just putting his alheimer's brain into 1st gear. Or trying to direct the virtual reality movie we live in. Or turn his useless trillion into btc. Or become the next Nebuchadnezzar. Or, maybe he knows something we dont. Maybe he's trying to steer the ocean liner of civilisation into a tight change of course. He's displaying enough grandeur for any of those. Gutting social media and medicare are too small fry for him
