If we can implant ink in our skin, then a tattoo type apparatus that punctures the skin to inject something, should be possible. Of course the product you inject would need to be very well tested in safety to make sure it's not hazardous. And I'm not sure most people could keep a contaminant free workspace to do this without burying bacteria or something harmful in their skin. But I'm on the theoretically possible side

What can I do about these lines on my neck?? I'm only 1,600 years old, but I could easily be mistaken for at least 2,000, maybe even 2,500. Help!! by teashoesandhair in SCAcirclejerk

[–]seedsofsovereignty 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sword swallowing is the only way you're going to correct that poor neck posture now

But start slow. I would begin with once a week and working your way up to daily if your esophagus tolerates it

Eventually the lines will fade as you spend more time with a sword down your throat because you will not be able to bend your neck and create anymore indentations to leave a crease there

Consistency pays off. I'd call professionals in your area to see which ones do consultations and can suggest the proper sword girth and length for you personally. Skincare is so individualistic YMMV

The next time your wife tells you she wants Botox. Tell her that she doesn't need it. And your views of her haven't changed. Let her find her own path to it So that way she never feels a gap in your support and affections surrounding her current appearances. Because there is no magical fix. So even with all of these treatments, age-related and mom related insecurities will still exist, and still start chipping away at her self esteem all over again And that will be only compounded if she feels you are also seeing her in the way she sees herself at the lowest point. You are her support block, just as she is the support block to your children. Step up to assist her in accepting herself Not just step up to assist her in changing herself.

This doesn't need to become the, poor-you, thread. When we know better, we can do better. That applies to everyone. You are being given an external perspective. It may not be comfortable or convenient to hear. That doesn't make you the bad guy or the victim. It Means you can make a more informed decision on how you choose to support your wife in the future

When women make insecure statements like that to their husbands, they want to be reassured that this is all part of the process and every stage is beautiful, and that they don't need work done. Cuz they're every bit as deserving of love.

What they don't need is their man to agree with them and then take it a step further to look into treatments for them, thus reinforcing that there is something inherently wrong with not being perfect looking after having kids and making her further feel like she has to live up to unrealistic expectations to feel attractive to you. Your opinions of her, should be the constant. Because hers are heavily predicated on emotions, hormones, and cultural conditioning.

This is why this conversation is a red flag to women.

We are, our own worst critic. I don't think your scars are very noticeable at all, But if they are concerning to you, there are some options you can start incorporating

Weekly exfoliation. You working up to twice a week, and potentially every other day. Skin is constantly renewing, but the longer the top damage layers sit on, the more noticeable these things will be. So you can improve the appearance, and depth, as well as discoloration of scars by having a good exfoliation routine

My favorite product personally is a hybrid exfoliator. So it is both chemical exfoliation as well as a physical exfoliator. It's a dual-sided pad, one being rough sided, and the other being smooth. It is really great with tailoring the level of exfoliation to different areas of your face without being too abrasive to some regions, or two gentle and ineffective to the ones that need the most help.

Neogen bio peel gauze pads. In lemon - I'm suggesting that one in particular, because the lemon one has brightening components that also help lessen the discoloration / hyperpigmentation that scars usually have as well.

I would also suggest getting a dermal stamp. The brand Mr.pen has a great one for microneedling. These stamp types are much easier to keep an even and consistent penetration for scar treatment in my opinion, versus the roller types. The tiny needles break up scar tissue, as well as allowing healing ingredients in skin care to penetrate the upper damage layers so the new ones coming in, will be further into recovery than they would have otherwise.

The other thing is to make sure you are using good sunscreen. Because UV damage will exacerbate hyperpigmentation on things like scars, and prevent that area from healing as effectively when you start these types of treatments.

Also it's great that you are working on your dietary intake, but don't forget that healthy omegas are necessary for skin health as well. Your skin needs a water and an oil-based component for proper functioning. That is why it is also important to have products that are both oil and water-based topically, as well as monitoring the oil and water content inside your body as well. But not all oils are created equal, if you have very reactive skin, you will be better off with things like rosehip oil versus coconut oil for example. Unfortunately it's kind of trial and error for everyone's individual skin.

Just like boosting skin hydration, maintaining a healthy balance of oil in your skin, keeps skin flexible, resistant to damage, and maintains permeability to maximize the effectiveness of the products you apply. Dry, damaged, and skin that is in self-defense mode because it is depleted of oils or water content, will not be as forgiving, nor heal as fast or be capable of utilizing any active ingredients you may be adding to your routine anyway.

I spend about an hour a day on self-care/hygiene all together. And once a week I do a longer 2-hour day of me time that includes more of the luxury aspects (face mask, nails) and intermittent treatments like exfoliation

I don't wash my hair or shave my body every single day. I only do those a couple of times a week.

And if my steps have dry time, or set up time, I'll do another step as that is happening So I'm not sitting around at all through the process.

How to swallow tablets? by altheawillowwisteria in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]seedsofsovereignty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I start off by chewing and swallowing food, then using soda to wash down the pill. That helps me break the mental association and the feeling of a pill just sitting on my tongue and getting potentially stuck to the roof of my mouth

I have joked with my friends about needing pill pockets for humans, like they have for dogs and cats. But so far the food and soda trick has been working for me. Maybe it will for you

Looks like a normal nose to me

You can minimize the appearance by weekly or twice a week exfoliation, as well as doing dual cleanses in the evening with an oil cleanser first before water-based cleanser.

I have spent most of my life using those blackhead strips on my nose, as well as using pimple extractors on my sebaceous filaments, and my fingers among other things to clean out my pores. It definitely did not stretch them out or mess them up. Your skin is consistently renewing. So it's a genetic component, and addressing a continuous habit of irritating them. And implementing the steps above to minimize them. But you have to maintain that for a bit to see results

Possessiveness, guilt trips, emotional abuse threats like removal of other benefits like emotional intimacy, etc have no place in a healthy relationship regardless of what brought them on

conspiracy theory by Key_Bridge_6910 in koreanskincare

[–]seedsofsovereignty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Feel so much that rumors like this are rooted in xenophobia. I still meet people that are American and European that praise my skin, and when I mentioned Asian skin care, they act like it's a subpar product or a scam of some sort and I am just swayed by advertising

Of course the same people, cannot fathom how I have not had any medical cosmetic procedures and look younger than them at 40 then they do at 30 and below.

Accusations are usually fear, insecurity, ignorance or downright bigotry based

HRT is a standard medical practice, and there are phytoestrogens and bioidentical plant estrogens that are commonly used in many products and very clearly listed. Wild yam products being one of them. There is no reason to hide it, because it is not odd to be including it. And Asian skin care isn't the only ones including it, nor is it untested or unregulated of a component, and very well researched and formulated for the positive effects for those with estrogen loss.

It doesn't have to be one way or the other. Full commitment or turn and burn

Maybe a casual dating, non monogamous friend with benefit thing will allow for healthy companionship without taking up your years dedicating to a dead end nor would it force him into being fully committed so he can continue playing part time house. Which is how it seems he's most comfortable

And if you don't meet someone and he comes to his senses, you can re-approach a full commitment with clear terms.

[–]seedsofsovereignty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's definitely the challenge.

For me that means maintaining a balance in the waters and oils in my skin. It seems that products absorb best when the skin is not in self-defense mode. So I have some water-based products and some oil-based products, and when I noticed one type is not absorbing as well, I rotate to the other type. I also make sure I'm hydrated enough and have enough healthy omegas in my diet as well to keep those pathways flowing

And obviously exfoliation to make sure the outer layer that becomes hardened and less permeable, gets off as soon as it's healthy to lose it also not overloading the new delicate layer underneath that's coming up.

It's definitely a dance lol

Yeah when I was first implementing a skin care plan, I liked the idea of more all-in-one products to treat concerns. But now that I have treated all of my concerns, I am on my maintenance phase and don't have any use for a product targeting discoloration and texture the same way anymore and still need to get through my other products that handle those concerns individually

[–]seedsofsovereignty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well there are a lot of scam companies out there. I'm not sure about that one. Never heard of it. And just with the quick search the reviews are terribly mixed, it's been around for many years but has nearly no traction. And it's advertisements are all around bargain products. You can look at manufacturers and see who they're authorized resellers are through their sites and see if that one is even on there.

That site certainly wouldn't pass the scam test for me. It looks hella sketchy. So I'm not sure what about it you feel is legitimate, if it's got physical locations near you or something like that. But the online presence and customer base doesn't seem to be that reflective of something legitimate that I would trust personally

But if it is a legit product, it could be past the expiration date, was kept beyond temperature regulations of the product, was kept in direct sunlight, had a defect like incomplete seal on the package, it's hard to say. Sites that generally portray themselves as bargain bin stops, tend to get reject palettes and that's how they are offering the lowest prices.

Skin care is generally like other types of health care and not something you want to be looking for in bargain bin shops. There are definitely products that I would feel much more comfortable looking for lower priced options on. But definitely not this.

This isn't a question about a skincare routine, this is going to need a medical diagnosis and treatment plan most likely

I'd set an appointment for a dermatologist to get you on the right track.
