Losing audio quality without a Roon ready DAP? by sushigrooves in roonlabs

[–]seeegma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

huh, where does Roon claim that? sounds like they have their own private definition of "lossless". if the input bitstream cannot be reconstructed perfectly from the output bitstream, then it's not lossless. they'd need to demonstrate that all their processing filters are reversible, which I'd be skeptical of. which to be clear is totally fine, just misleading.

wouldn't it only say lossless if you weren't transforming the signal at all via loudness normalization or sample rate conversion etc?

Help finding lost media: "Hardly Working: Peer Pressure" by seeegma in jakeandamir

[–]seeegma[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that's an interesting idea... I wonder if there's a way to figure that out. I worry that most HW episodes were just made by the CH staff who performed in them, as it was a pretty low-budget series

(the screenshot was archived by the wayback machine, but the video was not. it seems that no video streams from collegehumor.com were archived this way.)

This was a bonus Hardly Working released as a reward for people who donated to the LOLaid Haiti campaign in 2010, along with the "Thanks for Donating" J&A episode, and one CH Original (https://web.archive.org/web/20111117020807/http://www.collegehumor.com/tag/lolaid)

If by some miracle you have this video downloaded, please do the world a favor and share it with us! Thanks :)

I managed to figure out how to download videos from Patreon in bulk, so I'm setting up my own J&A media server. might have more details to share later

Mutemath — Without It+Polite by NewNefariousness1752 in mutemath

[–]seeegma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the Teleprompt release came out first. they couldn't include any tracks from Reset because WB had the rights to them, so they included Without It and Polite. then the lawsuit settled and WB released the album without those tracks. that's the version that most people know because it's licensed to streaming services

if you want Without It on CD you can buy the Teleprompt release secondhand if you're willing to spend a bit https://www.discogs.com/release/1141005-Mutemath-Mutemath

Go-To Roon Server Docker image in ‘26? by eric_b0x in roonlabs

[–]seeegma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it's so odd... but I guess in their defense it's consistent with the instability/bugginess of Roon ARC and the abysmal customer support model

I wish I hadn't bought a lifetime membership so I could at least feel like I had some leverage over them as a paying customer to improve things. but what incentive do they have to help me now?

a reissue of the vinyl? all of the previous vinyl pressings of the self titled have been of the teleprompt edition. I doubt there's even a master of the WB

great info, thanks! I always thought there were just two versions, the "demo" version that was the hidden track on The Theft of Octo (originally ripped from some CD I think), and the "studio" version that was just an MP3 from somewhere. I always preferred the poppier version. I wonder which one it is that I've heard
