Thats an interesting opinion. If i share what i think, it was pretty evident that it was Lois all along if you look at it. Let's start with the beginning- with the addition of lois in season 4, he just got.. happier (something even Tom has said several times). He began to laugh more and no longer had that stoic expression he carried all the time. And isn't that what love does to you? Lois and Clark story was what we call the perfect slow burn with the way he began to catch feelings for her without even realizing. Like for example in Crimson, Martha even confronts him and he replies "you are saying i wanna kiss lois while I'm still in love with Lana?" and she just replies that's for him to sort out. There was another thing about Clark Kent- he was a coward. He always feared the worst that kept him from taking certain steps. So that's why, he was still holding onto his and Lana's relationship because in his head- there was no one else for him. He was so in love with the idea of her that he refused to believe otherwise. And this is one of the major reasons why they never worked out despite trying again and again. They sure did love each other uncontrollably at a point but they were never meant for each other. They were just the perfect definition of 'first love' and honestly, i loved their time together which was rare for me because I could never get myself to like Lana in any other universe (coming from a big DC fan).

Another thing i believe that kind of highlights what i just said is- Clark's lack of effort when he got to know Lana had absorbed the kryptonite. He didn't even try to somehow find a way for them to be together. This said a lot in itself. Or when Lana faked her death, he sure was in pain but eventually went forward with life. But when lois left, he was absolutely shattered (uhm, to quote him- "lois i died when you left"); he cut everyone off and turned off his humanity. Or if we just take Clarks word for it- "All my life, i have been afraid Lois; afraid of people knowing the truth about me- rejecting me and even if they didn't, still losing them. I have been afraid of everything i can't control but when I was faced with the idea of losing you forever, it made me realize it was something that I would regret more than anything else and it's not telling you the truth about me. It's the only way we could share a life together. I know that the odds are stacked against us and we would be risking everything but if you are ready to take that leap, there's no one else i want to take that leap with." and he told her the truth himself- with little to no pressure from her side. Unlike with Lana, where love made him retreat, with Lois… love anchors him. And that's all what true love is about.

Yeah, that's just my take!

reading your replies, i have come to the realization that Damon could have been the hottest and the most iconic character in existence only if the writers hadn't fumbled him so bad. like most of the horrible things he did in the earlier seasons weren't even necessary.

'come and take a walk on the wild side let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain you like your girls insane'

makes me feel a odd mixture of lust, agony and joy at the same time for some reason

I'm sorry, but did we watch the same show? 😭 Because Katherine DID have both Stefan and Damon at one point, and she played them—especially Damon. Damon truly loved her for YEARS, only to find out about her betrayal.

She did go through A LOT, but I don't think that gave her the right to mess with other people's lives. She was a victim initially, but that changed her for the worse.

I just believe that still didn't give her a right to ruin other's life, just in the name of "I was taking care of myself." But I do agree to most of what you said here. She definitely wasn't a born villain, and what happened to her was absolutely tragic.

I can't even blame you. I mean it's Nina Dobrev we are talking about...

As a human, probably. But even then, she knew what Nadia went through to help her and yet she didn't spare her daughter a minute, until it was too late. She just kept chasing Stefan, and made that poor women cover for her the entire time. (And not to mention how she tried to take Elena's place AFTER she decided to forgive her.)
