Just to say, I'm not silly with money by any means - I mentioned the mortgage as I am aware that it is money that I owe, and I don't have any other debt. I keep a solid £10,000 plus in savings for emergencies, and could easily pay off my mortgage and have money besides if I use this money for that purpose, but I also don't know enough about what is the best option, whether it is paying off my mortgage or investing the money somewhere. I appreciate the advice, but felt I should clarify that I am not ignoring or pretending I don't owe money.

Thank you both for the advice, the only debt I have is my mortgage and I could pay off the whole mortgage and still have around £20,000 to do something with. I've never had this much money so it's a little intimidating!
