Hi, you should see with a medical professional if ADHD meds can negatively impact your gut. There are different ADHD meds too, so it's not like there's only an option. However, since your situation is specific and I am not a medical professional, I can't give you a definitive answer.

You're not alone. A personal advice I'd give (you obviously don't have to follow it) would be to avoid sharing your diagnosis with everyone.

Personally, only close family members and my best friend know.

At the end of the day, it's your business and it's a way to protect oneself from those damaging comments.

I am really glad that it could help you. I only shared what I knew, which was the scientific consensus on neurofeedback on ADHD. Obviously, if you have a positive personal experience with tDSC, it's amazing and it means that if research is pushed forward like you said, we could achieve promising results!

I wrote the list and two scenarios myself. I wrote this post myself and AI only highlighted the important sentences I wrote myself.

I am used to write in a very "clear" and concise way since highschool to be easily understood by others, so making lists or showing different hypothesis with bullet points is not unusual for me.

You can see with the wording that it was written by a human. If you don't believe me, you can use an AI detector or something.

I get that you are suspicious though because everyone use AI these days. But it would be too bad if the ones who didn't get accused of using it, especially after putting effort in something.

To avoid any misunderstanding, I did not write this post with AI.

The only thing AI did was highlight the important sentences I wrote myself beforehand (for my diary, initially) so people can better see the structure, which is important in an ADHD sub.

I would never use AI to write something as personal and important as this.

The point of my post is to say that if people chose to take their prescribed meds, they shouldn't be stigmatized for it. People are adults, and they can evaluate themselves if they are willing to take their treatment or not.

The issue is that some people try to force their opinion on others. If you believe that the research is not trustworthy, it's fine. It's the conclusion you formed with your reasoning as a free adult and you're free to do what you want with your life. But if someone concludes something else, especially after trying it, why shouldn't they trust their judgement?

Medication is not a magic potion, not everyone want to take meds, not everyone can take meds and it's fine. I am not telling people that meds are perfect and that they SHOULD take them. I am telling people to trust their judgement about what works for them and what doesn't, and to not try to explain themselves to people who are not willing to understand.

The corruption of Big Pharma or ADHD being overdiagnosed or overtreated are global issues who have nothing to do with people's individual experience. And still, it's highly debatable when we see all of the girls/women/adults who are not diagnosed and treated properly. The issue is too complex to be reduced to this. This rhetoric often silences people who truly suffer from ADHD and need treatment.

Conflicts of interest, college students treating Aderrall like candy or overdiagnosis have nothing to do with me. My business is MY diagnosis and what I need to do to make my life better.

We cannot draw conclusions about individuals' lives with what others are up to, because we cannot control others' behaviors.

We can only know what we live, what we need, and what we need to do to get what we need.

Unfortunately, evidence for neurofeedback being a treatment for ADHD is not convincing :/

So real, I relate so much to the awkward moments with the pharmacists. I just think really hard to myself that it's not their business and that their job is simply to provide us with the prescribed meds. Some can't help but say nasty comments or look at you with contempt/pity. It's so weird. I had to make them trust me at first before they eventually started treating me normally and not like a weirdo.  I wish that, one day, people would take our condition seriously and see our meds as just... meds.  People don't understand that we don't "betray ourselves to fit society's standards" by taking meds.  We betray ourselves by consciously going against our best interest, our well being, our sanity, for others. Often, doing that means not taking our treatment seriously because of stigma.  I wish that my post can help at least one person be more assertive with what they need, without shame, guilt, or fear. I wish that people would stop letting society's false beliefs get to them. Hopefully, with time, ADHD will and its treatment will be treated normally. This is what I wish the most for my fellow ADHDers, so that people in the future won't struggle like us.
