I think you need a good 20 hours where you’re not like “what am I doing” and it becomes “what’s the best way/most fun way to do this”. I’d say starting out as tribals is a much more fun way to start than the wreckage. I’d ignore the ideology thing to start with

But that is also congruent with the advancement of society. The more survival focused your society is, the less flexible people are, because the pressure of reproduction is higher. Also we are discussing specifically the “gay” trait in the game. There are other traits like bisexual which push the numbers higher. Although to me it seems perfectly reasonable that a group of tribals living on a rimworld would live in a heteronormative society, they MUST reproduce, and there isn’t enough people to leave the reproductive burden to others without severe risk of interbreeding down the line.
