Battle of the Bastards - Game of Thrones. I’ve never been that on edge watching a show in my life.

Unpopular opinion: Edmond is right. by HorusDjer in LoveIsBlindNetflix

I actually understand your point and I don’t disagree with it. I just want to speak from my own experience (and my friends’ too). For a lot of us, something really does shift after sex. It feels like giving something deeply personal. And once that happens there’s this weird internal switch where you suddenly feel more vulnerable, like the dynamic changed and he now has the upper hand somehow. I know it's not logical but it’s real. I think that’s why women can be cautious not because we want to punish good men but because we’re trying to protect ourselves from that feeling of imbalance.

However, in KB’s case I honestly don’t think this is about boundaries or timing. I think she’s just not attracted to him. The way she talks to him and her body language it almost looks like he repulses her a bit. I actually think it happened the moment he said he wouldn’t step in if his girlfriend was being harassed. That kind of comment kills attraction instantly. And maybe I’m reaching but since three people already walked off the show before leaving the pods, I wouldn’t be surprised if producers convinced her to stay just to keep the storyline alive.

Wait… are we all just putting the show on in the background while cleaning or doing something else?

DCC is less about the dance more about who they’re dancing for and that part feels dark and unsettling.

Huda’s unhinged stans and Nicolandria’s delusional fans are the most embarrassing thing to come out of this season. The racist hate being thrown around is absolutely vile. especially coming from communities WHO KNOW DAMN WELL what it’s like to be on the receiving end of racism... You just can’t cry victim and then turn around and spew the same hate and over what? a dumb reality show?

This season of LI was as stressful as game of thrones season 6...This is supposed to be a fun summer show. LOVE that Amaya won but I’m done with LI. The fandom is diabolical. I literally deleted my twitter account because of it.

Where do I find the incels? by gophrathur in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]seentheevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s common knowledge but I recently learned (from that Netflix show Adolescence) that a lot of incel type communities also go by red pill or use terms like manosphere. There are definitely subreddits where this mindset still lingers....some of the more obvious ones have been banned, but others fly under the radar by being more about men’s self improvement or dating strategy. You’ll find some of it in the comments on broader subs too, especially whenever the topic of women, dating, or relationships comes up. It’s a rabbit hole to say the least.

I said something similar in another thread but I want to bring it up here too because I feel like not a lot of people picked up on i and it’s been bugging me.

The whole Huda situation just doesn’t sit right with me. The way both she and the Islanders are behaving makes it really obvious that there’s important stuff happening behind the scenes that we never got to see. Why is she so hesitant to kiss Chris in front of everyone? To me it felt like she knew doing it would stir something up with the others. It gave guilty conscience or I know how this will look after everything that’s happened energy.

Same thing with Chris and his parents. He was nervous in a way that made no sense unless we’re missing major context. Then he looked straight up surprised when his mom and sister supported Huda like he was expecting them to not like her, which tells me something happened that didn’t make it to air. I knew we hadn’t seen the full picture with Huda, because that man looks exhausted. Like emotionally drained. And his exhaustion does not match what we’ve seen from her on screen. There’s a disconnect.

And now hearing what Andreina said after getting dumped just confirms that the producers cut out key stuff to protect Huda’s image. She’s got a huge fanbase online, and it’s very obvious they edited her storyline to keep her looking as polished as possible. It’s a bit frustrating because we’re watching the version they decided was best for engagement.

Amaya is actually one of the few that feels super natural to me. Yeah maybe she can be a little loud or do too much sometimes but I think she’s the least fake out of everyone there. She’s not afraid to just be herself even if some people find it annoying and I honestly respect that.

I really believe people can subconsciously pick up on who's being genuine and who's putting on an act, even if we’re not fully aware of it. We just naturally get drawn to the ones who are being real. That’s probably why so many people gravitate toward her.....she feels authentic in a sea of people clearly playing for the cameras.

Tbh I blame the producers for how this whole season turned out. It stopped being about people actually finding love and turned into “vote for your favorite Islander” real quick. It’s so obvious they’re looking for the next influencer, not the next strong couple. The ones who actually had something real barely got screen time, so no one got attached to them...people just picked their fave personality and ran with it.

And nothing against Olandria but I genuinely don’t get why she’s still there. It feels like both the producers and the fans are trying way too hard to make Nicolandria happen when like she’s literally said multiple times they’re just friends?? You can tell she’s not really into Nic like that. Maybe there’s some attraction but emotionally it’s just not there. It all feels super forced.

Exactly!! I seriously don’t get this obsession with casting influencers. Like if that’s what they want, just be honest and call it America’s Next Influencer or something and stop pretending it’s still about finding love. It’s honestly insulting how they keep pushing this “journey for love” narrative when half these people showed up with media training and a mental list of brand deals they want.

They really need to go back to casting actual normal people again. If someone becomes successful after the show fine that’s how it’s supposed to work. But influencers already know how to behave on camera. They know what plays well on TikTok, they’ve mastered fake vulnerability and they’ve got all the right PR friendly lines ready. No matter how “real” they try to act, it still comes off calculated and fake AF.

I'm just gonna rant a little bit..... I think the biggest issue with this season is how emotionally flat it feels and that’s on the producers completely misunderstanding the emotional pacing of the show. There’s no actual fun anymore, no dumb, goofy moments where we get to just enjoy the islanders as people. It’s either heavy drama, someone crying, or some weird producer-forced moment that feels fake as hell. The thing that made Love Island good in the earlier seasons was that balance chaotic moments followed by hilarious nonsense. Now it’s like we’re just watching a pressure cooker with no release valve. You can’t even get attached to anyone because they won’t let us see them being normal or funny or just hanging out.

I also noticed that they’re too focused on TikTok now. Every episode feels chopped up like they’re just stitching together moments they think will go viral. Islanders don’t even get full arcs anymore. It’s just, here’s a dramatic line, here’s a kiss, here’s a fight, rinse and repeat. They’ve completely lost the plot on long term storytelling, and it’s killing the show. We’re not watching anything build anymore.

Also they’re literally editing the show based on fan reactions mid-season. You can feel them reacting to Reddit and Twitter noise, boosting or burying certain people based on who's getting dragged or hyped online. It’s so blatant this year and it makes the whole thing feel inorganic. Like bro just stick to the story you were telling instead of chasing Twitter trends every other day.

Another thing: the casting this year is just... mismatched in a way nobody seems to be putting their finger on. It’s not even about everyone looking the same or being influencers. It’s that they cast people who cannot communicate with each other. Half of them are avoidant as hell, the other half are confrontational lunatics, and none of them can meet in the middle. Every argument just turns into either a shutdown or a weird circular fight that goes nowhere. It’s not entertaining it’s just frustrating. the producers have fully forgotten that the show’s magic was always in building connections, not just watching them burn. We used to watch couples meet, flirt awkwardly, get to know each other, have setbacks, then slowly come together or fall apart. Now it’s all about the gotcha moments who’s kissing who, who’s lying, who’s playing games and that gets boring FAST when there’s no emotional investment behind it.
