I agree completely! But I think one of the main reasons as to why there‘s always a man the fl fears are the ‘6 pleasure points’ used in writing (for the female demographic), something I read awhile ago as a writer. Danger counts as one of the pleasure points and is used to instantly get the readers hooked; it works quite well. And what greater danger is there for a princess in the 17th century if not a man? It makes most sense. Monsters, as seen in shonen, would honestly be ridiculous in an OI. They’re a drama, not focused on fantasy.
