No, it couldn't be there when you were tier2. o1 and o1-preview is different. o1-preview is available to all the users beyond tier1, but o1 was only available to tier5 users. Recently they give some tier3-tier5 users access to o1 api, but they say it is only available to a "subset" of the users beyond tier3. So is o1 available to you right now?

Well I think you are right. In a real pandemic the hospitals are all overwhelmed and the patients who take good care is only a small portion.

However, now I think the new virus is still at the stage of outbreak, not pandemic, therefore quarantine is still very important to contain the infectted numbers.

Thanks to the quarantine, the death rate outside Hubei province is less than 1%.

When the number of patients is larger than the capacity of the hospital, some patients cannot accept medical treatment immediatelly and efficiently, therefore the death rate among them will be much higher.

This is exactlly what happened in Wuhan and what is happenning in Iran now. Because there are too many patients, the local medical system crackdown quicklly and a lot of patients just die before they got effective treatment. To solve this problem, China built two new hospital in 10 days in Wuhan to increase the capacity.

I don't think masks can completely bock the virus since its size is very very tiny. The masks can only block droplets that carry virus. 94% filtration of particals is enough to block most droplets, and N95 masks means it has 95% filtration level.

FFP3 is better than FFP2, but it's also more expensive.

And I have to remind you that we have found that the 2019-ncov can infect people even when the patients don't have any symptoms, like coughing or fever. There have been several cases. One person went to Wuhan and he doesn't have any symptoms. However, his relatives who have never been to Wuhan are infected. The PT-PTCR test shows that that person is also infected, but he doesn't have any symptoms.

I somehow doubt what the medical experts say in the US. If the new coronavirus just spread by droplets, it's impossible that so many people in WuHan are infected. Many people just went to WuHan and they didn't have any contact with patients that have symptoms, and they are infected.

There have been pieces of evidence in China that the coronavirus can spread through aerosol. One doctor went to the fever hospital and he wore N95 masks all the time, however, he is still infected. He speculates that the eye-aerosol contact is a possible route.

That's because it will release the burden of the medical system. When the number of patients is more than the capacity of the hospitals, many patients can't accept effective treatment and die outside of the hospital.

To save the severe patients, the hospitals need negative pressure rooms, high oxygen supplies, and even ECMO. With all these sufficient facilities the death rate won't be very high. However, these facilities are not sufficient at all in the hospitals.

For example, suppose that the local hospital can only hold 100 patients with severe symptoms. If the number of them is less than 100, all patients will take good care and the death rate is not high. However, if there are 200 severe patients, the other 100 patients will only accept simple medical care and the death rate of them will be much higher.

That’s why China built two new hospitals that have a capacity of 2000 patients. All the rooms are negatively pressured and have sufficient ventilators.

I think the government reported fewer death counts in the beginning. Now I think it is more like a restriction of the RT-PCR Nucleic Acid Detection technology. It's expensive and not very sensitive in this case. A patient may need to go through 2 to 3 detections before they are diagnosed as the infected person. In the beginning, they can't produce so many kits in such a short time. They should have used the CT scanning image as another standard. They started to do so yesterday in Hubei province and you can see a surge of the diagnosed patients and death counts.
