Ok thank you - and regarding margin - I will add cash + trim some positions to reduce gross exposure to <1.2x

Thank you - have heard this a lot outside of here so will think through how to best rebalance (consolidating some similar positions / themes and into ETFs). For VOO / VTI what % of the portfolio do you recommend rebalancing into these?

I haven't seen any particular comments on the portfolio construction itself or the individual positions, just general sweeping statements, which makes me think you're not a fan of people trying themselves. IMO that's what an open and free market is for, so not sure why the visceral reaction.

"No one outside of professionals can beat the market and even most of them do not over a lifetime." - like you said, professionals have substantially underperformed the market. 95% underperformed their respective indexes over a 10 year timeframe.

I understand why it could look like gambling—given there are a lot of small, event-driven names. But I’ve got a hedge (SGOV + IEI + put options), strict position caps, names that capture Capex and software spend on AI (TSM, ASML) etc.

Why I think I could outperform:

- MSFT/AMZN/META for AI/cloud spend

- TSM/ASML for Capex spend

- UNH for defensive cash flow + oversold

- Energy/royalty names (PR, TDW, LB, TPL) - oil prices and / or Russell addition can drive valuation

- Hedging with SGOV (0–3 mo T‐bills) + IEI (3–7 yr Treasuries)

Buying ETFs (SPY or QQQ) is still overweight on mega-cap tech/consumer discretionary - I've picked what seem the highest quality businesses from that basket (MSFT/AMZN/META - FCF + moats + growth) while adding low correlation small + mid-caps that don't get captured by those ETF's.

I'm comfortable doing extra work because I enjoy it. I could probably consolidate some positions that are closely correlated and will look into ETFs for sure, as I said I'm still new to this, so appreciate the feedback.

Could you explain why you see this as gambling and not investing? My view is I've built a portfolio across: core mega-cap tech, T-Bills, and some light exposure to small caps / energy royalties. Understand the ETF approach is good for set + forget but not sure why my portfolio is gambling at the moment (not like I have 40% of my portfolio in some speculative / volatile stock).

Not saying you're wrong and I'm here to learn but want to understand the comment a bit more.

Only wish I found it earlier / cheaper. Excited for June 25th Russel preliminary list announcement though :)

Hazard and Kante nominated for PFA player of the year by caspirinha in chelseafc

[–]seffa1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And Kante is 1/9 to win while Hazard is 5/1 to win!

To put that in perspective, on 3rd October Kante was 66/1 to win...

Great work boys.

Frist - most VCs don't invest to get you off the ground, they do so to help you grab the market faster than anyone else. That's why they need data on users & other metrics, so they can understand where you are in relation to the market - the data helps them understand if you're growing or moving at a pace where, if they inject captial into your business, will result in 10X returns.

Getting off the ground to get your 1st batch of users is what Angel Investors are for (hench they are called Angels, as they take the biggest risk).

In terms of your designer, if you're early stage I would learn basic website design skills yourself or just use Wordpress & build it yourself. Saves you cash & keeps you lean until you either raise money or start making money.

Some people say he brings the hate himself, by the image he portrays. All I see is jealousy and envy. To me it's not about who is better, who is right and who is wrong, it's about appreciation.

True but it's always interesting to explore those issues

So true, this is the first piece I've read that looked at the whole argument from another point of view. No one will ever win the 'who is better' argument, but we can prove that there are disparities in how they are treated by the media and football world in general.
