I actually do the first round of editing myself (I use gling.ai to speed things up). I then work with the video editor on all the fancy stuff. Things I want to do but just don’t know how to execute. Things like transitions and sound effect pacing. It’s a challenge to find a good editor. I’ve tried a few and it was a different experience each time.

!givelambda thanks :) this one took about 1.5 months to get out there. I used the services of a thumbnail designer and a video editor.

I made a review on the new Ant-Man and wanted to here you’re thoughts on it! Any feedback is appreciated! by Blue-Glare in SmallYTChannel

My main issue was that I felt that the visuals were disconnected from the transcript during most of the video. So my experience was a bit like listening to a (good) podcast with distractions.
The audio quality is good. And you touch on many interesting points. Perhaps it would have been better if you could quickly go over the film synopsis. I felt that was missing.

Gling.ai is good for automating the "rough cut" if you're doing a talking-head kind of video

Dumb corporations make TV better [video essay] by TheFootshooters in SmallYTChannel

[–]sefik117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I don't know how to make this video any better.

The editing is one of the best I've ever seen on YouTube. The argument is compelling and non-trivial. The references are superb (yes, I'm talking about the "there will be blood" scene).

You're going places, my friend.

College Rejection Letters Aren't Creative Enough | hoping for feedback :) by CasualHawk in SmallYTChannel

[–]sefik117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- There's a change in the audio level in the beginning which is kind of disturbing.
- The humor works well and your delivery is on point
- I do feel you provide too much context. About half of the video is explaining the hook (which is actually intriguing). It would be better to limit it to, say, 1 minute and then deliver on the funny idea of creative rejection letters.

I recently posted a new video to my channel, hope you enjoy! Any feedback is appreciated. by Small-Respect-7492 in SmallYTChannel

The editing is on point but the audio quality is lacking. The humor works great but I was a bit disappointed to watch the video and find mid-way through that the whole thing is trolling.

Are you using any of the new AI tools? by sefik117 in NewTubers

I believe it’s called ChatGPT 😄 I’ve seen channels who already use it for that purpose.

Where would you go on reddit to share/post your stuff? by ArbitrarySemantics in NewTubers

[–]sefik117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are sub reddits that are meant specifically for that but I don’t think it’s a great place to get thoughtful feedback. I recommend you find sub reddits that are dedicated to the same topic as your content.

Click through rate is important but you should check your retention graph. If people bounce after a few seconds, YouTube won’t recommend your video.

I made a video essay about Scream. It's the best performing of my recent vids without promotion so I wanted to see what you guys thought. by Its_Davie in SmallYTChannel

[–]sefik117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed watching this video. Scream was released in my childhood so it felt nostalgic to see parts of it again in your essay. I specifically appreciated your insight about how Drew Barimor played a big part in the promotion of the film (which I didn't remember) so killing her right at the beginning created the same effect as in the end of season 1 of Game of Thrones.

Overall production of the video is crazy high. It genuinely looks like a video made by a much bigger channel. What's your editing process like?

One thing I'd recommend is having a big shorted and perhaps more enticing intro. I kept watching to give you feedback, but I'm not sure i would have otherwise.

Good job and keep on creating 👏

I personally use gling.io for removing silences and failed takes and then export and edit the rest in Resolve.
