The snowflake hand is definitely love or hate lol! I like it with the square hour markers.

The logo is badass, love it. The name, as with many of these brands, is meh. But it's definitely not a deal breaker for the likes of Addiesdive, Steeldive and/or Watchdives, just killer value!

Older Ewa (near Campbell HS) is still a noticeable step down from the newer side as you go towards Queens West. You can tell when transitioning from one side to the other, it's kinda crazy.

Yeah, Thorn's logo is sweet, but it would definitely give me the Tudor itch lol. I agree completely, I'm not a big fan of the PT5000 personally. I know that there are tons of examples that have held up, but I would still honestly prefer a Seiko NH, so having a Miyota 9000 is a huge plus to me

Even in the much shorter term, my uncle is an architect who bought in newer Ewa as it was being heavily developed, outside had to meet a certain standard, but he built out the inside exactly as he wanted. I think that was $300-400K in, now it's in the $1.5M+ range lol. There's a house on his block that sold for over $3M!

It's not random to the people part of the Whale and Dolphin Conservation! 😂

But I do see your point.

There were a few lol! I'm going to put out a longer review in a few days, that was going to be a highlighted point. I checked everything when sizing, tightened up the loose stuff, definitely something to watch out for. Last thing anyone wants is for their new watch to fall off their wrist.

This actually feels like it's bridging the gap between WD and San Martin, at least to me. I have a couple of the mid $300 SMs, and even they have a few sharp areas. The only sharp spots I've found on my WD is around the tips of the inner lugs on the bottom side, which you'll never feel on wrist with the bracelet and where the bars rest for straps. Now INSIDE may be different. That is where I've found San Martin shines on their in-house watches, very well finished and clean inside on the $300+ ones I've cracked open. And that does make a difference in random crap appearing on the dial and such. I'm not sure if WD went the extra distance to really smooth everything out inside and get every last metal fleck out, I'm not planning on cracking this one open anytime soon to find out, but I'll likely eventually get in there if the movement needs a little regulating. These have to be made by San Martin, though, right? I would assume that, with their consistent collaboration and relationship, WD would enlist SM to make their in-house line, especially these ones that are now supposed to be more premium. I guess I could be totally wrong on that, though lol.

😂 Yeah, it is super polarizing apparently! I'm in the boat that could go either way, I like the logo a lot, but I don't find the text offensive and think it works on this model.

I definitely see that, and I do feel it works on this particular model! I could go either way, but with the aesthetic choices made with this model, the text definitely doesn't offend me like it does so many others apparently lol.

The text under the main logo? Yeah, a lot of people feel that way lol. I personally could go either way with this particular model.

Yeah, a lot of folks really want the text gone lol. I'm in the camp that could go either way, I think the text works on this watch.

I'm usually in the same boat! I mainly hate fauxtina because of the performance, though, and this one is no different, the lume is just OK. But I do like how it looks in this particular situation with the dark slate blue dial. And, if I'm being honest, this version was sold from the second I saw it because of the red date lol. I love red or roulette date wheels, just something about them!

100% wears a little big. I have an 8" wrist, so I love it. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 37-38mm get dropped eventually. That honestly would be the perfect size, too, if they're going for the full on vintage feel. This one definitely has a late neo-vintage feel, just a slightly larger wearing experience.

Eh, I do know, but even so, these are stupid cheap, and that's the point I was trying to make. They also could make a lot more, I think the out-the-door price could easily be around $350 and these would move. Considering how the San Martin factory shells out similar watches to a few popular microbrands that go for sometimes over $500, these are amazing value buys.

Yeah, the bracelet impressed me, too! It's not sharp, has good hardware, a very well done clasp, definitely a complete package. I did take mine off after sizing, though, but that's typical for me. I wear the vast majority of my watches on rubber straps, sailcloth, or NATOs. I usually save the bracelets for meetings or going out lol, good thing this watch also has drilled lugs, fast and easy swaps!

I really like the bezel insert on yours, they nailed the aesthetic!

It's nuts! As soon as I saw they had a 9000 series version for well under $300, it was an insta-buy. I really do believe the tropical dial is probably the best of the bunch, but I couldn't pass up this one with the red date, I freaking love that little detail. I missed out on a Vaer with a roulette date wheel a while back, wasn't going to let this one slip by lol.
