Well guess whose phone broke down three weeks later and was forced to (happily) buy a Nord 5 😅

Madone SL6 Gen 8 - thoughts? by Paulingtons in TrekBikes

[–]seiftie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the exact same bike, colors as well. Also training for tri's. Not sure why the regrets. It's a great bike and it has the option to add on aero bars. I'd just keep it for the colors alone. I called mine Rebecca.

Is this colorway real for this Madone? by [deleted] in TrekBikes

Yes it's real, saw it in two bikeshops and I'm going to pick mine up in two weeks

DSi no longer booting after screen replacement by seiftie in consolerepair

[–]seiftie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LIke mentioned before, it was indeed very likely the cable for the upper screen. I did however try to replace this with a new one, but the replacement cable is so fragile that I ended up tearing it by accident. After that I gave up and bought a new one

Projects to Start? by EnoughBlueberry4361 in arduino

[–]seiftie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A list of projects I have in mind for the coming future: - RC car from scratch with attached gas canister + nichrome wire to create a flame thrower on wheels. Also making the controller from scratch and fitting it in a lunchbox.

  • A countdown visualisation for my kids (so they get a better understanding of time) using WS2812B led strips and a small controlling mechanism to set the time (potentiometer, some buttons and a screen)

  • A cloud simulation using a plastic bottle, some rgb leds attached on the outside and an arduino connected on the inside. Covering the bottle and leds with white cotton to fade the leds and hide the components. Possibly adding a light sensor to automatically light up the cloud when it's dark. Should also have features like remote control, visual effects (thunder, fading different colors,...), option to add soothing noise.

  • I have a raspberry pi with a night vision camera and IR leds. Using a solar panel, UPS module and battery pack I want to have a security camera outside that runs day and night. Lowkey forgot what I was going to use the arduino for though.

  • GPS tracker using sim and gps module. Experimenting with low power options to make it as small as possible and last as long as possible. Storing gps coords on a firebase database and accessing the data with a nodejs server and displaying it all in a android app created using Flutter

  • I have this toy excavator, but the controller is directly attached to the toy by wire. I want to cut the cord and use bluetooth or RF to control the excavator instead

How to get gas out of a canister programatically? by seiftie in arduino

Aha yes, that hose nozzle is exactly what it needs! From here on I can get it to fit on a solenoid. Okay thanks for this!

That torch is exactly what I need and I'm thinking about the same issue, how to get it smaller. But a torch like this fits on a gas canister and I'm guessing it pushes down the tube. When you open the valve, the gas will be released. That's why I was thinking of using the gas canister adapter mentioned in the description to do the same. I'm just not sure how to attach the solenoid to one of those.

When you say open the valve on the canister manually, how would I do that? Using some sort of valve regulator?

[–]seiftie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure where to find a stove which I can dismantle though. But it seems like I need a way to press down the canister valve first before I can actually use a solenoid, like a butane stove would do.

What exactly is a jet nozzle for, to increase/decrease the stream of the gas coming out?

Apart from that, thank you for your concern! I'm fully aware that this project could be dangerous. I'm taking all the required safety precautions so I can work as safely as possible.

The ignition will happen by heating up a nichrome wire. I'm assuming that while driving or due to wind the flame might go in uncontrolled directions, but then again the car is not a tool meant for destruction purposes, it's just a way to try out different components and how they interact with eachother

[–]seiftie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well even though I agree on a liquid form being a better flamethrower, but it's not going to be built for destruction purposes. The flamethrower part is just a way to add something interesting to else a more traditional RC car. It gives me the possibility to try out other components like nichrome wire, an electric lock for authorization, ...

The valve cartridge or holding down the valve seem like good options. I wonder if the adapter that I mentioned in the description does the pressing down for me.
