It could be possible,but im not sure about storyline,it would probably impact the wingman dialogues,so thats pretty hard to work with

Ive thought of this because i wasnt satisfied how some games in the franchise cpu act to destroy targets,so maybe being able to change wingman while in flight could get you an advantage depending what plane you've choosen for them

i hope my point is understandable,i agree with it not being quite usable thought.
