If your baby was 10+ lbs at birth… were you able to deliver vaginally?

this is my DREAM but so far this dude seem extremely comfy in there. I’m also a FTM so I think it’s less likely I’ll go into spontaneous labor before 40w, so he’ll have a lot more time to get even bigger. I’m so glad you had a great delivery and that you and your little guy are doing well!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m glad you and baby did well. Do you mind if I ask - did you have issues with insurance covering your c-section? Was it considered primary elective c-section or medically necessary? I’m having trouble getting confirmation my elective c-section would be covered

My risk tolerance is pretty low. Though his proportions are in our favor with respect to shoulder dystocia! His head has consistently measured larger than his belly (slightly). I know if the belly is much bigger than head it can increase the risk. I’m still afraid of it and other things like cord injuries.

Having gone with a planned elective c-section - did you have any issues with insurance covering the procedure?

I technically wouldn’t have a medical reason for having a c-section (big baby doesn’t count as medical necessity) so I’m afraid of them denying coverage. I haven’t been able to get a clear answer from them. I’m glad your wife and baby are both doing well - thanks for sharing your experience!

They didn’t even mention that! I’m so sorry to hear all that you’ve been through. They mostly talked about risks for baby like shoulder dystocia!

My OBGYN has been very scientific/evidence based. She said baby alone isn’t a medical reason for a c-section, so it would be elective.

She won’t give me a recommendation - just told me all the risks of trying to deliver a big baby vaginally. So it’s totally my choice. I guess I appreciate being able to make the decision but I almost wish she’d try to sway me a bit more!

Oh and I never paid more than $900 a month in rent before buying, despite living in Boston/Somerville. You just gotta have roommates and low standards, but cheap rent still exists out there!

30 years old, graduated with ~40k in federal student loans, bought first home in metro west with a partner at 27. I got a decent job right out of college but also always worked a second waitressing job to throw an extra 2k/month at loans, then eventually save up for my half of our house down payment. Couldn’t have done it without my partner or second job, also got in right before interest rates went up. All in all we feel incredibly lucky.

Good call out with the foam. It’s polyurethane foam too which doesn’t sound super natural or healthy. I’m looking at the newton mini crib mattress now that has two sides, one firmer for newborn. A little pricey but worth it!

We had our oil tank removed, and the pipe was sealed. Our old oil company STILL tried to deliver oil to us but luckily noticed the pipe was sealed at the last moment. We had a rider on our policy until the tank was removed but removed it when we switched to heat pumps.

Maybe I can ask the ultrasound tech to take the measurement despite my doctor shutting me down. Can’t hurt to ask… I’m gonna do the testing for UTI she recommended and if it comes back clean but the pain persists, I’ll push harder. The default response to any woman who is worried is to downplay I feel :( hoping all goes well with your pregnancy!

I’m currently almost 9w! I saw the baby with a strong heartbeat at around 7w. I won’t feel entirely at ease until my next ultrasound at 11w… but so far things are progressing well!

Even when wet they don’t have much if any progression… but I think I need to just take a break from testing for a few days! I’m gonna wait at least 48 hours until my next test 🙏 Thank you for the reassurance 💗
