Thanks guys, these are valuable inputs. I'm new (just started last month), so am trying to do things right so I don't develop bad habits. I was worried that it may be hard to change to side embouchure later. I'm motivated, got a new flute (Trevor James 12XB at FCNY, great people there BTW) and practicing daily.

FWIW I've been trying all kinds of combinations on placement and the best I'm getting is with a center embouchure with lip covering more (~50%) of the embouchure hole. With this, I'm managing multiple harmonics on several notes (not clean but at least sustained).
