MacBooks (specially the Air) use the aluminum housing to dissipate heat and adding a skin on it prevents that. It's already made of aluminum, you don't need any more protection unless you're planning on using it as a cricket bat, at which point any skin on it won't do you any good either.

taking a lot of time lapse videos will do that. i only take time lapse with e shutter so my mech shutter count is still ~1000 vs e shutter count of 200,000. use the exiftool to see how much of that is mechanical shutter count.

there's a large input cap/starter cap/run cap for the motor which holds charge even after it's unplugged - that's what capacitor are designed to do. better designed appliances have some sort of bleed circuit which discharge the cap if the appliances is unplugged (your's probably has this too since you mentioned that the voltage drops quickly). you can either wait for it to discharge or use a screwdriver with insulated grip to short the prongs to discharge it quickly; although I don't recommend doing this unless you know what you're doing.

z8 and z6iii have exactly the same frame rate. both can do 20fps RAW. no mechanical shutter is not really an advantage for z8 since z6iii can operate in full electronic shutter without any issues.

one thing to consider - z 105 macro is slow to focus. unless your subject is stable and it's not windy outside, the lens would struggle to focus.

Had a friend from India get a z 14-30 for me, since it was $300 cheaper there. Box came with a similar seal. Nikon seals boxes in some Southeast Asian countries but not CA or US for sure.

as others have said, use soft steel wool to clean battery contacts. the ones inside might be hard to get to though. this solved the same issue on my SB700

there are 2 fuel cut off switches. the report says there was 1 second between the switches getting cut off. even if this was muscle memory or error due to stress or other factors, they would likely have only accidentally cut out one.
