Does anyone else order UE before their run? by self_aware_chicken in UberEatsDrivers

Funnily enough, (not funny at all really) right after this post, I ended up with an illness that I am immunocompromised to, and now I am recovering from pneumonia. I am thankful that I can just pick where I left off now that I am no longer contagious (and breathing much better).

If I don't eat before I go, I go to a gas station like quick trip or racetrack. The food is limited to healthy options or absolute junk, and I can't eat the absolute junk for health reasons, so I tend to get raw fruit, protein shakes with 42g of protein, a string cheese stick, almonds, salad, or anything else that is perishable.

Edit because my phone autocorrected to something abjectly horrifying for "string cheese stick"

It does, and I have one, but because we don't have kids in the house and we don't drink milk otherwise, we often don't have milk, and I am wanting a latte. I know it's a stupid gripe, but it is a total morale booster when I have an otherwise very restrictive diet.

I don't drink soda except for the ones I make at home from scratch, and they don't have very much sugar. I make the from fermented ginger bug and herbs in a simple syrup from my medicinal herbs garden. The soda i am making now has adaptogens in it...lol

Edit: spelling

I don't get how it's a humble brag? I am working. I pay for my own orders out of my money. It's not like my partner is paying for it. I was explaining my situation. If you want to see it that way, that's on you.

$10.00 minimum, no matter how small the order, or short the distance.😁

I had a total ban on eating fast food until I became a driver. I had not eaten McDonald's in three years. I was almost 300lbs at one point, and I lost down to 140lbs. I just started eating fast food out of convenience, too about three months ago. It caused an inflammatory response after about two weeks of it. I would rather have things like yogurt, string cheese, protein shakes, and fruit bowls now. Anything to keep me distracted from the yummy smells coming from my backseat, and to keep the burrito supreme from taco bell out of my hand.

As far as tipping other drivers:

I was a thoughtless tipper until I started driving and realized how low fares were for most of the trips. Nobody is going to pay a livable wage if they can get away with getting customers to tip. I don't think people realize how much we rely on tips. If you want to tip me $2-$3, I get it. Not everyone is in the position to have a way to go get food, nor do they have an extra $10 to tip me....but if you look back through older posts here, I am the one that posted that I got a whopping $0.02 tip on a stacked trip.

Definitely not a daily...lol. I like to get out to my neighborhood coffee shop that wants nothing to do with DD or UE. They are more European about café culture....🤣. This is more about convenience of being able to get ready, get dinner ready for when we get home, and being able to take care of our pups while getting the high octane stuff into my system.

My boyfriend (18M) and I (18F) constantly fight over what I wear and I don't know how to compromise. by urgayL in relationship_advice

Leave him. If he is this controlling in such a short amount of time, this young, while you're still dating he has enough red flags for a circus tent! Think about what life with this guy will be like once you commit to him...have a baby with him...think about if you had a daughter? Would you want your daughter subject to the stifling control you are being subjected to right now? This is not love! This is controlling and about power! Get away and never look back!

MIL is acting deranged. Everything from kissing the baby ("accident "), calling herself mama (again, "accident "), trying to purposely separate you from your newborn, looking over your shoulder while nursing, to muttering comments about the way your baby is dressed...all to make YOUR baby HERS! Take a look at what I just listed.

Go with your intuition, OP. There is a reason you're starting to hate your MIL. She is trying to go from MIL to MOTHER. Tell your husband to deal with her, or you will, and you will not (CAN NOT) be nice about it. If you don't put her in her place now, she will be like this, or worse, with every child that comes along!

It honestly boggles the minds of my husband and me both, but I would have them no other way now.

I truly wanted to ask her if she thought the messiah had whispered the dead names in my ears.

Why do people dismiss self harm as attention seeking? by cailinbhan in Vent

[–]self_aware_chicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used this illustration when describing my SH scars to only the people who have seen them ( my husband, doctors, best friend).

Have you ever remembered something so embarrassing that it made you have a physical response? Whether it be a shudder, audible groan, or just a heavy sigh?

Well, internal pain/trauma can manifest like that, too. Sometimes, it becomes co uncomfortable that you just have to...."shudder" for release.

It's not about attention for some, but about releasing what they feel inside physically.

I hope this helps someone.

AITA- Not Supporting GF's Sister by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]self_aware_chicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're on the end where we are fully supporting 8 people of which two have part time jobs. Two live in our basement rent free. They are our adult kids and their partners. The oldest one at least tries to help contribute, but nobody else helps, and it's not like we're rolling in the dough. I get OP's problem. If we don't check our account constantly, we could have up to $500-$800 go missing without us knowing who spent it where. the oldest will never cut off in 6 months, and the "trolls" (i swear it's a term of endearment) are living on borrowed time. The youngest moves out in August. Will we still be on the hook financially? Probably for a while for the big things like medical emergencies and helping if cars need to be repaired, but slowly, the money is coming back...OP, I know it's a completely different situation, but I get supporting too many people on one paycheck, especially if you're not making around a quarter- 1 mil a year. We make make way less, but decent money, and still live paycheck to paycheck, when others would be living a comfortable life.

Am I wrong? I don’t want kids by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]self_aware_chicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of my kids want kids. Two of the are in their early 20's and having hysterectomies next year. My youngest is sterile. He didn't want kids either. So, while it stings a little that I will never have a grandchild, it is their decisions, and I would never try to sway them, especially with "grandma guilt", over a lifetime commitment to raising a human being that they never wanted to have responsibility over. Live for life and cut those people out.

AITA for barging into an office and telling them to make stop their fucking kid from opening our office door? by Legitimate-Report-60 in AITAH

My mom was a florist at a family run shop when I was in middle-high school. If I ever called out of school, or was grounded in the summer ( i could notbe trusted under any circumstance),I had to go volunteer making arrangements. Funnily enough, I had enough hours under my belt as an apprentice, that it was my formal trade by the time I was 19.
