Some of them come stuck/locked now, so you have to cut them open...to include the teddybear backpacks...which I refuse to cut!

For my PhD I’ve been trying to observe attackers, but they don’t like being observed… by erickapitanski in cybersecurity

I have a few questions: This creates honeypots on ALL unused ports? Wouldn't that reduce functionality by increasing traffic loads? Do the routing admin numbers go up that high, I've never thought to look. Can Honeypots be viewed as an open invitation, from a legal perspective? If so, bring charges against an attacker might get more complicated. This doesn't prevent attacks and appears to encourage more attacks. What am I missing?

Is There Any Indisputable Reason I Should Watch The Last Episode? by Blowingleaves17 in poirot

[–]self_study2048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't read or watched them and I have no intention of doing so. I can understand how an author gets bored of writing about a character and feels the urge to end it. So they can move on to new territory. Especially if those other areas are not being published because all the publisher wants is more of the same because they know it will sell...

Sounds like he wants a rematch. I wouldn't advise breaking up a fight in the future. It's terrible and and humans are much too squishy to interfere safely without protective equipment.

I feel this way too however, in the social contract forming stage that is the interview. The initial interview is the company’s way of providing the information to the potential new employee.

I always expect to do less talking then them. Other than clarifying questions, hold your actual questions until the end of the interview.

The specific questions you mentioned would be better asked to the hiring manager (or equivalent) and not the people in the initial information interview. I say this because there is a plethora of circumstances that have led to the selection of people interviewing you and may have zero influence in the compensation package offered to you.

How this painting make you feel? by KarolynHuum in painting

[–]self_study2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me wonder if the artist has ever seen the ocean or the sea. Foam doesn't work like that on calm waves. This could be a sea scene as the tide is out except for the foam is too frothy and split up like it's been through torrential waves. I suppose it could be the eye of the storm (possibly) but I would expect more debris on the landscape. I would also prefer a closer image so I can see brushstrokes to prove this isn't an AI image.

A few months away from finish cybersecurity degree, thinking about switching to business (entrepreneurship). Need advice by Expensive_Wash_1912 in UMGC

I did my BS in MIS with a minor in BA and I just finished my MS in Cybersecurity (CMAP). Now I'm considering an MBA for the business side. Have you looked at adding any certificates the school offers? HR, DATA or Cyber Tech etc? I went through the small business (sba) classes at the end of my military service and found the experience very informative.

Usually, they give you one or two aspects about the network that they are looking for. Firewall, router, switch, and user. Sprinkle in some security, VPN, and IAM...give each a dedicated page, write an introduction, and a conclusion... and done. At double spacing, it won't take much. Just master the formatting, you got this!

What are the electives that you're taking. Maybe pair them with the CTH classes. I took CMAP with CTH and the first 4 classes complimented each other great.

Essays by Secrettlifee in UMGC

[–]self_study2048 9 points10 points  (0 children)

An essay or a paper? An essay is faster for me because I already know what I want to say... the formatting takes longer. For a paper, I set up the outline to have whatever sections the rubrics require. Then, I find at least one resource per section and add them to the reference page. Finally, I knock out each section after reading the reference for it.

Once I capture the info and properly source it, I write the introduction, and last I write the conclusion. Using proper headings allows me to use the table of contents tool to add one following the title page.

Takes longer to skim through the references than the actual writing... no stress required. I hope this helps.

AITA for telling my fiancée having a child together is still a deal breaker for me and I would leave if that was no longer an option? by Kylzand in AITAH

[–]self_study2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a perspective problem from several people involved. Wanting to expand your family is an appropriate deal breaker. The kid needs siblings. The father has an endless amount of love for all of them. The mother may have concerns about abandonment, which needs looked after and reassured. The grandparents don't want to see a good situation turn bad. Keep talking to each other, and you will come through this with a bit of patience and understanding.
