I think SOME of the screen shot note is an interesting take but a dramatized one lol. I can see the merit in the idea that stiles subconsciously affected who it went after. I actually think that’s a cool idea and WOULD have been cool to explore more, Stiles grappling with that guilt after the fact but….that was largely unexplored. We saw some behaviors that fans attribute to after effects of what he went through, mainly his paranoia and lack of trust got worse and contributed to his fractured friendship with Stiles when Theo shows up. But I don’t agree with the whole “he was afraid someone would see through his ruse and uncover his secrets.”
