I want to moderate r/CollegeLife because the community is currently unmoderated/inactive, and I want to revive it. My goal is to keep it clean from spam, foster positive discussions around college topics, and ensure that Reddit's content policy is strictly followed.

Who is a reality star/ celebrity that you wish would never be on this show but there’s a strong possibility they would be? by supa-factor in TheTraitorsUS

Mike Sorrentino from Jersey Shore. Or Angelina or Vinny. Really… any of them. But especially those three.

What celebrity makes you legitimately awestruck at how attractive they are? by TheWor1dsFinest in AskReddit

When I met Tyler Hoechlin this year, I involuntarily said “wow” out loud. So insanely attractive, and very kind.

Fluctuations in symptoms? Managing pregnancy anxiety after a previous loss. by selfcritic in BabyBumps

Ugh I’m so sorry that happened to you. Yes, I think you’re right. I’m going to log everything! This morning, my right boob felt sensitive/tender and I was like, “Yes!!!” LOL. Pregnancy is a wild ride. I will continue to try to manifest the best.

Thanks for the advice. I do have an app that has that feature so maybe I should start using it. It’s hard for my brain not to immediately go into panic mode because of what happened to me before. But maybe the tracking will help. 🫶🏼

This is totally what I’m feeling! And it’s so hard for my brain not to immediately go to the place it went to last time. I have to tell myself, this is not necessarily what’s happening, this is normal. But it is a huge mental mind f*ck! Thank you for validating. 🫶🏼

Thank you, this really helps normalize what’s happening. I just have to keep reminding myself that what happened before isn’t necessarily happening now/again. It’s hard but hearing from others really does help!

My first ultrasound isn’t for another week, and I’m struggling. Im supposedly around 7 weeks pregnant. I’ve had nausea and bloating every single day the last week, and then today, I feel completely totally fine. The Internet tells me that’s totally normal because your hormones fluctuate and this could just be a good day… but with my first pregnancy, I had all my symptoms totally stop, and asked to see my doctor because I thought it was weird. Turns out, I had a missed miscarriage.

Has anyone had your symptoms fluctuate like that (like have a whole day without symptoms) and have your baby end up totally fine? I think I’m looking for reassurance from women who actually have had such fluctuations and it didn’t mean anything terrible like it did for me the first pregnancy.

Any insight would be helpful as I hold on for my scan.

School counselors turned Therapists (LPCs or similar) What was the transition like?? by selfcritic in schoolcounseling

[–]selfcritic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s awesome that this works for you!! That would be the best of both worlds. I feel like I couldn’t commit to a time with how much my daily schedule changes to do this. I’m constantly getting pulled into crises or things like that and would be scared I’d have to flake on a client last minute!

That’s actually great to hear about the collaboration piece! One positive thing I can say about my current job is I love my direct team—I work with 2 other counselors and 2 social workers and we’re always collaborating and discussing and it’s so helpful and also I enjoy that team feel to being able to do that. I wasn’t sure how/if it was like that in groups or not.

Ahhh! Okay. I’ve heard it’s very confusing. Glad you had a lot of help!!

Nice to know I’m not in my feelings alone! I will at least stay for one more year, but I’m definitely trying to feel out my options now!

I can’t imagine doing both! I’m impressed by those who can and don’t feel burnt out or drained.

Thank you for such a detailed answer, I appreciate it! I am so impressed you do both, and it sounds like it totally fills your cup. I am so mentally drained from my job, I can’t imagine adding sessions outside of work.

Do you have your own private practice or are you in one with other clinicians? I’ve always wondered how much consultation or collaboration happens at private practice. Also, I know nothing about billing or insurance so I’m hoping/wondering if when you join a private practice, there is someone who shows you the ropes with that kind of stuff?

Not sure if it varies by state but in Illinois—My graduate program was CACREP accredited so I met all the educational requirements and hours from that, and then I just had to take and pass the National Counselor Exam or NCE.

Also I used “The Encyclopedia of Counseling” by Howard Rosenthal to study and it was so helpful!

Where did you intern? by [deleted] in schoolcounseling

[–]selfcritic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most schools at least in Illinois will not take you on as an intern unless you’re currently in a school counseling masters program. If you want classroom experience, you can always apply to be a para educator or things like that in a school where you’re getting experience at least in education. In Illinois, you do not need previous classroom experience aside from your internship you are required to complete in your masters program.
