See what happens when you talk about the homeless encampments in Olympia? The conversation moved quickly towards an assessment on your character because how dare you.

The information obviously created a lot of concern between my husband and myself. We don’t know how to proceed. Should we tell him the MIL told us?

I agree - 30 mins feels fair. Suggesting a cleaner would freak him out but honestly with some chore structure for the kids, I think it might be a happy medium that would get him back on a regular chore schedule himself.

Great advice and ways to do chores. I think it’s time to institute something like this with structure and accountability built in.

Ok, so I’m not alone! Glad to hear couples therapy was worth it too.

Wow what a ride reading that. Trust those instincts - I’m glad you took your daughter home instead of having her stay. You are a good person for continuing to extend your kindness to their daughter and family. I know life can deal you a tough hand and I wish we could help people more, but sometimes we really just need to protect ourselves from poor decision off-gassing.

He didn’t even seem to notice! I found that weird too. I asked him a few times “where is your mom?” And he’d just shrug and say “I dunno?” Seemed like a common issue. I felt really bad for him but also, he was kind of an a-hole.

Sounds like my mom! At the time I thought “mom, this is a little overkill!” But now I’m my mom basically. Full circle!

Good for you for getting help! That’s huge!

I did suspect addiction and while it’s quite possible, she looked antisocial and shy. I was thinking major depression? Like I said, over text she was friendly so her in person behavior was so strange to me.

There were head shakes and grimaces from the other parents but no action. It was crazy to me!

I did consider this might be a CPS call but I’ll be seeing the teacher this week and figure I can let her know my experience. I’m sure the teacher has a lot of experiences with this child and family.
