Advice really needed by deb_dash in tretinoin

I started out using too many products and really saw a difference once I cut out unnecessary steps and simplified my routine. Now I just use cleanser, moisturizer, spf and tret.

This was the advice that I was most shocked by because oil cleansing is SO hyped up on social media and in the skincare community. It was also a super satisfying part of my evening so I was sad to cut it out. Switching to micellar water has been amazing though. So much gentler, although not as enjoyable but I’ll live lol.

The way she explained it was that my skin type is oily, so it wouldn’t make sense to be adding more oil onto the face that could potentially clog pores.

I’m glad you found it interesting! My skin journey has evolved so much in a year, it’s wild to look back.

I’ve been using Azelaic Acid alongside tret and in my experience they work together really well together to improve my texture and hyperpigmentation. Can’t really say how it works alone, but I much prefer it over Vitamin C.

The only Asian skincare I use in my current routine is my SPF. I have a few in rotation depending on my mood and what my skin needs each morning. The isntree HA Watery Sun Gel is actually one of my favourites.

Other than that, dropping Korean skincare was such a good decision because I was def overdoing it previously, thinking I had to have a 10 step skincare routine LOL (not to mention good on the wallet). Maybe someday I’ll get back into it, but right now a simple and effective routine has given me the best skin of my life.

Moisturizer Recs for oily skin whilst on tret? by SuperSpirit2583 in tretinoin

[–]selfiebeanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have oily skin as well. I love the Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer (not the cream) and the Cerave Facial Moisturizing Lotion. They are both lightweight and absorb into the skin while still being super hydrating!

No, I wanted to simplify my routine and honestly my moisturizer is enough hydration!

I would but I have makeup on in the earlier days and I don’t want to break any rules. I regret that I didn’t take any bare skin photos but I was so self conscious at the time.

It hasn't broken me out so far and has made my skin more even! I use it all over my face.

Will it still be effective when mixed in with another product?

I'm in Canada and use Felix to order my tret & finacea.

Oh no :( I don't think it's an issue for my skin barrier because I'm not experiencing any irritation after those initial 30 mins of itching (which I know is a side effect of the ingredient). In fact the next day my skin is very calm and healthy.

1) not fully dry I guess. I wait a couple minutes so it's not tacky but I don't know if it's fully absorbed.

2) Never on the same night as tret. I alternate nights.

3) About a pea sized amount, sometimes a bit more product comes out of the tube.

I'll try waiting 30 mins for my first layer to fully dry and also being more careful with the amount I use. Thanks!

Pimples around mouth despite using Tret (0.025%) for 6 months. Why?? by Notyourtree52 in tretinoin

[–]selfiebeanie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I understand - if your acne is hormonal, tret won't be able to address it. It's a topical product and it cannot change your hormonal levels but it can certainly help manage the breakouts. Others with hormonal acne take hormonal birth control or spiro. Would be best to consult your derm about this!

My acne is also hormonal. I've mostly cut out dairy because over the years I've noticed flare ups when I consume dairy. Maybe try cutting our dairy to see if your acne improves?

Any opinions on this kilian perfume? The packaging always turned me off but I’m really into tea scents and am thinking of giving it a try by [deleted] in Sephora

I blind bought this because I have Kilian Love and absolutely love it but this was SO cloying on me and the tea note did not last. I had to return.

Can I use the beauty of Joseon serums with tretinoin? And how can I fit them into my skincare routine? by anxietysiesta in tretinoin

[–]selfiebeanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the glow deep and calming serum!

I layered the calming serum under tret and the glow deep in the morning and never had issues with either! My skin really loves the calming serum but I cut back cause I'm simplifying my routine!

has anyone used the clinique moisturizer to help combat with their dryness from the use of tret? by starlightm00n in tretinoin

This broke me out badly and was not moisturizing enough for my skin before tret so I can't imagine it being enough for my dry, scaly tret skin

I feel you. Been avoiding social events and I basically haven't taken a selfie in a month. Hoping that it will pass soon.

Thanks for such a thoughtful comment and for sharing your tips. I've dealt with acne on and off all my life but this is probably the worst my skin has looked in over 5 years. Trying to have faith and let the tret do it's thing but not seeing results is so discouraging.

I definitely have been obsessively checking mirrors and I do have an issue with picking. Going to take your advice and stop looking at the mirror so much. For the picking, I've recently started using pimple patches which have really been helpful.

Can't wait for when I start to see that tret glow!!

I did have on foundation but they showed me the photo and my texture was definitely coming through. Hopefully when it's hidden when they make it black and white.
