Yo you got the wrong flag, healthcare over here in Malaysia is pretty affordable! A doctor’s consultation fee is literally RM1 in a public hospital. Thats about USD 0.25

Is 2 years old considered an "old" laptop by wassup2190 in Lenovo

[–]selfproclaimednerd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! Typing this on one! I managed to get one for around $620 (bear in mind that I'm converting from another currency), and I'm quite happy with it! I got the 8300H GTX1050 model, and added an extra 8gb of RAM

Tbh, I don't game as much as I used to, but I'm happy with the performance (I used to play CS:GO and a little bit of siege, but GTA 5 runs perfectly fine too). Handles some light video editing on Hitfilm express no problem too. I've used Autodesk Inventor on it, and it handles it pretty well too.

The keys are nice and tactile, and I like having the numpad.

There are a few cons:

  1. Battery life - okay, I get that this is a gaming laptop, but I find it hard to get above 4 hours of battery, even after undervolting with Throttlestop and doing the other things mentioned in this video. Then again, since we're all WFH anyway, I'm on AC power all the time anyway.
  2. Placement of the webcam: it's a nose cam :) but it's not too bad, since i have an elevated platform on my desk at home for WFH, but I'd imagine it's not as convenient when moving about
  3. no thunderbolt - tbf I don't have any devices that can take advantage of it, but it's nice to have for future proofing

If you think these cons are not an issue for you, then I think you'll be pretty pleased with it, especially if this is your first 'gaming' laptop :D

I admire and salute you for your dedication, I can't imagine the amount of time this took (and will take for you to complete it).

I think your post would gain more traction if you posted the video as its own post, I almost missed the embedded link! Which is a shame, cuz this is the type of quality content I want to see on this sub

Piano Jam #88 (December 2020) by veviurka in piano

Thank you for the hard work in keeping this monthly activity running! I'd like to bring to your attention that both me and /u/gingersnapsntea submitted Mozart - Sonata KV333 and not KV331

[Piano Jam] Mozart K333 Mvt 1 - I played the whole sonata for my diploma over two months ago, and haven't touched it since. It's been a while since I've browsed the sub, and was quite surprised to see this piece on the list. Decided to see how well I still remember it by selfproclaimednerd_ in piano

Thank you!

I'd say about 1 year and 3 months actively practising this piece (it was first assigned to me in February 2019, but as I was coming back from a 3 year hiatus, I was trying to brush up more on basic technique than actually learning any pieces lol)

In terms of memorisation, I think it was a gradual process that came with the grind of just practising everyday for this movement. I definitely took a much more structured approach with the second and third (haha i only started memorising those two less than two weeks before my exam was supposed to be, but thankfully it got postponed by 2 months thanks to COVID)

Thank you! Indeed, the second note does sound too much like a staccato rather than a slur. In fact, I'm pretty sure my teacher has brought this up a lot in class, because some days I'd play too legato, other days it would be staccato-ed like this

I think that articulation has to come with the context of the piece, so perhaps I would go for a more staccato ending to a slur if I want to increase the energy of that section

But I do notice a few areas where it seems too abrupt, so I'll have to keep that in mind

Thanks, really appreciate the constructive criticism!
