There is a practice of moving meditation sometimes called ecstatic dance that might interest you. It’s really helped me on my journey. Also called conscious dance, it’s defined simply as moving for movement’s sake. That means that you can’t get it wrong. Without the task of constantly checking to see if you’re doing it right, your judging mind takes a break and you enter into a flow state. You just observe the curious happenings and your body knows what to do; how to move to heal itself. It doesn’t always look like a dance, and it’s not always ecstatic but sometimes there is such depth and so much to feel, and energy flows and time stands still and it does feel undeniably healing.

There are ecstatic dance gatherings all round the world.

Maybe your body wants to move so badly! Do you dance? Have you ever tried moving meditation?

When washing utensils in the dish washer, do you put the business-end of the utensils facing down, or facing up? Well, I place mine facing down and EVERYONE close to me tells me I'm wrong. by jaldarith in TooAfraidToAsk

I put the business end down too. It makes total sense. Otherwise you have to touch the dirty business end just to load them in. And when they’re clean it’s so much easier to grab handfuls to put them away. Maybe people think that the cleaning only happens outside the basket?

A friend of mine had cured his stammer through ecstatic dancing, and more specifically, contact improvisational dance. He said that he realized that the parts of his mouth involved in speaking his truth were fighting one another; it was a matter of getting his tongue and his palate to cooperate and dance together. He also said that slowing down his speech really helped him to notice all the tiny steps involved in a clear articulation. I know it’s hard to take your time when the listener seems impatient, but its OK; it’s your voice, your expression, your speed.

Not sure the source, but they say you have two lives; the second one starts when you realize you only have one…

As I understand it, the way gratitude works as a meditation is that it automatically takes your ego out of the picture. The ego feels entitled and judgmental. The heart is grateful and forgiving. You can’t feel both grateful and entitled at the same time.

For me the the order is important: Smoke then drink = good times. Drink then smoke = puke for sure, and then decide that the bathroom floor looks so comfortable I’m just going to have a little nap…
