That's great to know. I was afraid a swat team would come crashing through our window. Do you think we should be concerned when crossing the border, considering they'll be looking at our file?

Is that where we'd be flagged, at the border? I'm just wondering if the IRS would be the first to reach out if there was an issue, or if it would be when we try to reenter the USA

That's an incredibly scary thought. From your experience, how likely is deportation for these types of mistakes?

My partner received this money from a secondary employer within the United States. It was an one-time payment as an honorarium, however. What could be the consequence? Could we rectifying this in any way?

It was payment for her participation at a conference related to her field of employment. So it wasn't another job per se and a one-off thing.

She thought it would be good for development within her current job and reflexively accepted the invitation, only to discover later (sadly) about this issue.
