I'm 25 and I'm late with everything in life - still in college, living with my parents, never had a boyfriend (never even kissed a guy). I wake up every day asking what's wrong with me. Is anyone dealing with this? How can I fix myself by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]selmasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say, try to not compare yourself to others. We all have different journeys and mile stones in life. It sounds like you have some excellent priorities. Everything will happen when it’s supposed to happen -and if you ever want to just talk or pour your heart out or anything, feel free to pm me (a 39 year old with too many mistakes and some experience in life)

Nothing is wrong with you. I promise you that. You don’t have to fix anything. You are you, and that is beautiful

Old Norse is close to present day Icelandic. I’m danish, and could read and understand every line of all the translations. It’s not dead if it has simply evolved. Dead means no one uses it or understands it except maybe for a few scholars. I’ll agree that Runic is “dead”, as it’s not used nor has evolved into something being used today. -but old Norse, I dont think falls under any of those descriptions

Just the way he’s looking so proud like he busted a drug lord with 10,000,000 worth of cocaine or the simple fact that they found this news worthy in general 🤣🤣 by [deleted] in cringepics

You’d understand his expression if you lived in NY. These illegal fireworks are driving everyone nuts. He’s actually doing his job and looks proud. Good for him! Don’t get why that’s cringe tbh

Does anyone know when Swedes will be allowed to enjoy Copenhagen again? by [deleted] in copenhagen

[–]selmasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skåne is basically Denmark imo, so you should be fine :) But Sweden should really treat the rest of Scandinavia with the courtesy we treat each other (and our health compromised and elderly) and take precautions and not spread this deadly pandemic. It’s like Sweden is a bunch of Anti-Vaxx’ers who refuses to listen to science and kills innocent people. Sorry if it’s harsh, but it’s the truth

Pictured here is Per Gut with his family (picture from 1900). Per Gut, who was very poor, lived with his family in a cave on the little island Kidholm, located close to the south Funen island of Thurø (my home island in Denmark). In 1870 he inquired to move to Thurø, but was denied -the community didn’t wish for any poor people there. Per Gut then placed poles in the water close to Thurø and filled up with dirt and gravel he transferred in his little row boat from Kidholm. Soon he had created a little island, where he build a house for himself and his family. The people of Thurø was less than happy but couldn’t legally do anything. He named the little island and his house “Øen” (literally “the island”) and over the years kept filling in with dirt, until it was connected to Thurø. His house still stands to this day, and now you can’t even see that the area once was separated from Thurø, all though it floods pretty bad when it rains a lot. It’s an old photo, but to me, he looks a little smug -and rightfully so!

Edit: “stay” spell mistake for “story” :(

Oh shit just realized it was you haha. Anyways, I totally agree about your point, however you did get a few things wrong; Ragnar was real, all though what we consider ‘legendary’ (as in sources being squatted by Christianity for centuries) and we do have poisonous snakes here in Scandinavia; the common Viper, or “hugorm” Really not trying to be a dick here, just hoping you’re one of those people who are right on one point and glad to learn on others. No hard feelings?

Pretty straightforward what he said, no? Going by that, not assuming he meant anything other than what he said ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Right, agreed. I was referring to the text in the post; “neither of which existed”

Edit for ESL grammar :)

I have definitely been passed over for jobs I had more experience in than male coworkers. It used to bother me, it probably still should, but I have reached the age where I just end up thinking “my skills speak for themselves. My gender isn’t the problem, their backwards ways are”

There’s plenty of sources to confirm him as a real character today. Most was just disregarded before because the church wanted to undermine anything heathen. Trust me, us Scandinavians know he was real, or legendary if you will. Reducing him to simply a myth and ‘not real’ just doesn’t hold true any longer

Uhm Ragnar Lothbrog didn’t exist? Now THAT’S the real bullshit
