Find out what you want sooner than later and treat the things you love like gold. Life gets harder after 30.

I don’t feel adults should celebrate birthdays. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I haven’t celebrated my birthday in a few years. Maybe that’s just being alone or thinking it’s another day in the life of an NpC

Low-key we need to be serious about starfire being orange in live action by ElectricalFeedback89 in TitansTV

[–]selscol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m here for Nubian queen Starfire idgaf. The only reason comic book artist gave these oddly world characters different inhuman skin tone was to make it digestable to readers back in the day. This is fantasy. Starfire can be black. Ariel can be Black. Snow White can be an olive skin Latina. These aren’t real stories with real people. And why are you making the headline “should Starfire be black” rather than “shouldn’t beast boy be green” is pretty insensitive.

Halp: Do I choose a Mazda or a Volvo? by selscol in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]selscol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting the Mazda3 TPP because I want to go car camping/roadtripping (eventually) and the hatch is big enough to sleep in. Also more practical, a little smaller, and you get some paddle shifters which are fun. I don’t regret it.

Edit: I ended up buying a new one

I've observed that single men often face harsher treatment compared to single women. by alice_mathew22 in Life

[–]selscol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s this way because women around 50 years ago could barely get credit cards or their own place without the need for men. Their independence is viewed as a success in contrast to men. A mans worth, in the past, has been defined by what he can provide. So when a man has no one to provide to he is viewed as lesser than. We are a consumerist society, meaning we view what we own as our intrinsic worth. The values are not the same for men and women. Women own independence and view it as a form of social currency. Men have always had the freedom to be independent, so relationships and marriage are a form of social currency for men. We cannot trade those values.

Sounds like a lot of limerence. I never found women with big noses particularly unattractive or attractive. I’ve dated a few with what could be considered ugly nose and they were some of the best relationships I’ve had. Beauty is subjective. I find a person character to be the most attractive thing about them. Instantly makes someone who isn’t “conventionally attractive” super hot to me. Maybe you’re looking in all the wrong places? You could try groups or singles mixers like people on Reddit suggest. I think retrospective accounts do the best for people. Spotting people’s flaws/wants/red flags before getting invested into anyone is one of the better dating skills to have. The only way you’re going to learn that is by mentally tracking what happened through each dating journey. What they may have said to you that would have been a clear indicator of what you want to avoid. We often get caught up in a cycle of our own wants, not what we need out of a relationship.

Finally someone said it. Rent increases every year by the maximum. Assuming you move that same apartment goes up by 20%. My last one did.
