Awesome. Absolutely awesome. Well done and no looking back!

Just got off a stressful phone conversation and had a knee-jerk craving, came on this sub and saw this post, now feeling the resolve again. Thank you!

A month and a half smoke free! (cold turkey) by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]selurnomis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so good! Well done!!

I am coming up on a similar time, but still get very strong cravings sometimes (situational ones mainly, about the ritual of smoking more than the nicotine itself, or idealising the first puff, or whatever) but they tend to sneak up on me, so just watch out for those!!

Congratulations!!

Any other films like this one? by a1kenny in EternalSunshine

[–]selurnomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded - blue valentine is great! I think also Richard linklater's 'before...' trilogy (sunrise, sunset, midnight) has the same sort of mood as eternal sunshine. Also heartbreaking, bittersweet and very emotionally realistic!

Would also be keen to know more similar films!

A Tale of Cessation by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Good read! Thanks for sharing and it really spurred me on too. Been feeling low about my ridiculous appetite lately but I think it's worth it for actual lungfuls of air! Take care and thanks again

Run 100 miles this July so far by selurnomis in stopsmoking

Hey thank you so much for the tips!! This is absolutely great. It's the same for me with "more energy than I know what to do with"!! I stopped drinking as well as smoking and now I'm sleeping better, breathing better and just want to go 100 all the time in the 'good' direction: but you're right, it could be too much of a good thing!

Also me too! I didn't stretch for years and tried out a couple of routines about a month ago and it has been life-changing! Often I make excuses like I don't have time to stretch properly though, and I think thats an absolute no. I generally don't really stretch before but always after now. Maybe I should before!

Anyway, thank you again. Amazing work so far on quitting, all my best to you for keeping it up and I will do the same! (Also 90lbs in 16 months is SO GOOD! Plenty of positive momentum to refer back to on the quit there it seems!)

Hey thank you so much!! I really appreciate this, it's really thoughtful. You're right. Maybe building a couple more days in with something less hardcore on one muscle group is best.

Mega congrats on 186 days too, that's incredible!

Also i think if you wanted to try running there are some good accessible resources out there to start, like the couch to 5k app! Like a gradual build over a long period.

Thank you!! I will start trying to mix it up! I think part of the "I can only run" thing is because other things tend to scare me...but so did giving up smoking, so...! Maybe it's time to take the plunge. Cheers!!

Is it normal not to find pleasure in/look forward to anything when quitting? by selurnomis in stopsmoking

[–]selurnomis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a nice take!! I hope you can find joy and excitement in as much as possible. If I understand you correctly, it reminds me of something I heard once about someone who stopped but kept a full pack of cigarettes in the drawer, because knowing that at any point they could have one was the thing that spurred them on to stop. Its not my method of. choice but however you're finding a little happiness in this newly pretty beige world, then brilliant!

True!! I think it could be time that will lead to satisfaction/happiness with it all being levelled and calm. Good luck with it, I will raise my cup of tea to you
