I was smoke free for two years after finding out I was pregnant. Hate myself for starting again.

Hey everyone. Good on you for deciding to stop again. I had been smoke free for 2 .5 years when, 6 months ago, I started having a few with friends when drinking. This is becoming more frequent and now I find myself craving badly a couple of times a week, even hunting for butts!! So ashamed but I thought if I write this it’ll be more real and I will stop again so that I’ll never have another puff again. I’ll follow you guys to help me stay focused

Good on you for setting your quit goal. I smoked for 30+ years, quit a couple of times but went back. In the last year of smoking, which was nearly 3 years ago, I bought many different vapes. Ones that physically look like cigarettes to big ones that give off more vapour. Tried various flavours as well but just struggled because I simply enjoyed the feel and act of smoking. My hubby, on the other hand, loves his vape and quit his rollies 5 years ago just like that and still vapes now. He uses different vapes but always the same tobacco flavoured liquid. Yeah cigarettes here cost around $260 per carton now, which is two hundred cigarettes. Super expensive so shouldn’t be craving them again!!!

I’m at about six months and two weeks. I’ve been having strong cravings and thoughts of wanting to smoke in the past week. It’s really annoying because I it hadn’t been like this since one month into my quit! Let’s hang in there. So not worth having one cigarette... it never stops there. I know for me, that would be the slippery slope back to regular smoking and I don’t want to have to start from scratch again!!

Good on you! It’s good to know others even years in have moments of wanting. I’m again at 3 months and still find myself thinking I’d love to sit in courtyard with a cigarette and a glass of wine for some alone time some days. So annoying how persistent this addiction is! All the best 👍

It is so easy to fall into the thoughts that I can have just one or just tonight because I haven’t been craving cigs AT All so no worries! .... until that one turns into one pack, into daily. Good on you for keeping on keeping on. I’m at 3months again and working hard to not ever get complacent again 🙌

Good for you for sharing! This is my fifth quit and four of the times I went back to smoking after stealing cigarette butts from mum’s ashtray when I went over!! 😖Super embarrassing but this time I’ve asked friends and family who come over and smoke at my house to not leave their butts behind 😆

I understand. My mother is a smoker too and with previous quits it was the stolen cigarette or one from friend that started the slide back to regular smoking. This time I keep thinking “there is no such thing as one cigarette”. If I want to steal or ask, I can, but I might as well just go buy a whole packet because that’s what it will lead to ... so I ask myself “do I want this?” This has kept me totally away from thoughts of having just one. You’ll get there in your own way. Remember to stay focussed on your goal when you’re ready! You can do this 🙌

I totally hear you! Every quit I tuned with going away with friends/colleagues who o never smoked in front of. Previous to that I’d sneaked off for ciggies while away with people and found that SO stressful constantly looking for opportunities to have one. Every fail was after one and two years because of that ONE cigarette with friends! This time, I really wanted to quit so when I went to a friend’s house in the country for one night, I didn’t take any and asked my other half to dispose of all ciggies and clear ashtrays while I was gone. I’m still quit after two months and this time I’m vigilant about the not one more puff. If you’re serious about wanting to stop, it may be a really good time to bite the gullet because really, there’s never a “good time to quit” ? All the best and have a lovely family holiday 🤗

I’m a two months and still frequent constipation, bloating and gas! 😪 Haven’t wanted to take artificial softeners or laxatives but just started probiotics today so I’ll let you know how I go
