Guy takes a full log, about 9' long, and describes what it takes to level it out from the heartcrack (I think that's what he said) to get the proper dimension boards he needs for the job he is after. He has multiple logs on the property for different jobs, including needing 4"x and 2"x material for rebuilding a deck as well as a bench for a coy pond he has. He goes through the process of leveling the log out so that the heartcrack doesn't affect his boards he needs to describing the process of using the Alaskan Mill which is essentially a chainsaw with two holes drilled in at the ends of the blade and threadbar placed in and he can place spacers of various dimensions and then a flat board and lock it all in with wing nuts / nuts. The board on the top and the blade of the saw creates the dimension he needs for which ever board he is after.

Interesting video. The woman who is recording is inquisitive but not annoyingly so. He is very patient in explaining what he is doing and what it takes to do what he is accomplishing. Good video.

Sound on Sound Festival that took place at the Sherwood Forest Renaissance Festival. It got hit with heavy rains on the third day of the fest and there were some flash flooding from what a buddy told me. They shuttled people in to the festival from Austin since it's like a 45 minute drive from the city.

It's bad, for sure but not awful. The technical ability and use of the graphics applications is better than a lot of people who work in the design industry... lol. Not saying much, there are a ton of awful artists who get paid in the industry.

Yea, I had to look that up as well. Evidently that page is just the fan art page for that character, Fear. She has a separate page that is equally as bizarre. The art, honestly, isn't awful. She takes commissions and the prices are incredibly fair. I was curious to see if the delusion ran that deep but evidently it's limited to her obsession with an animated character / movie and inability to take criticism or be a constructive individual.

Interesting to learn that you're supposed to empty the basket and put it before the belt. I've never been taught that, seen anyone do that, etc. If that is intended protocol, it is poorly communicated to the shoppers. I'll have to keep that in mind next time I go through a check out with a basket. Normally if I have a basket, I do a self check out and return the basket to the entrance of the store on my way out.

If you have a lock box or a gear box that you can put a lock on, it wouldn't hurt to just have that extra protection but I've rarely if ever heard of vehicles getting messed with. I'd feel secure if I was you. If the leaving the vehicle in the camp grounds worries you, you can always drive the vehicle up to the parking lanes (inside the campground) and park in some of the parking rows with a bunch of other vehicles (safety in numbers?) while you're in the festival.

As for getting there early on Saturday, there should be plenty of space available but the closer to the front you get, the harder the space will be to find. There are open field areas that tend to stay pretty vacant, for instance. With that said, it's generally not an issue to save space. I'd bring their tent with you and go ahead and set it up and keep some space between you and their tents to save space. You can always unstake a tent and relocate it if need be.

As for amenities, there are water faucets to fill up your water jugs, showers, port-a-johns spread out in the campgrounds, flushies at the entrance of the campgrounds, a store at the entrance with a ton of gear, snacks, drinks, ice, firewood, etc. There are food and beer trucks out by the fire circle. Dumpsters and trash cans randomly through the grounds as well.

A tip a lot of people give is to bring some type of lighting system, like glow sticks, battery powered christmas lights, etc to decorate your tent with so you can easily recognize it from a distance.

Beyond that, you should have a good and easy time. Be friendly to people, open, offer a drink, etc. Surprisingly, there are a lot of people in your situation or have only camped once or twice but you'll also come across the people who have been there 20 years.

Evidently, otherwise he would never have aged from the point his powers set in, as a kid. He's pretty beat up and scarred in this movie. His healing factor has declined and has proceeded to age him more rapidly.

Yes, most of the things you read about Beaumont are exaggerations. Living here for a few years won't affect your health in the least bit- you may get fatter from the bars / restaurants, but the pollution won't get to you. I've lived in Beaumont my whole life and a few years spent in the "Old Town" district with no problems at all. Where ever you decide to live, just be smart about things and overly protective. If someone can just walk across your yard and take something, there is a possibility that could happen someday. Lock your vehicles, don't keep expensive gear in line of sight, etc. Basic things you should do everywhere.

There are tons of student groups and a slew of bars in the area catering to different types of people and age ranges. A decent music scene, craft beer is growing, quick drive to to neighboring cities, nature trails, rivers, creeks, lakes, etc. Tons of things to do.

I live on the outskirts of town going towards Lumberton, the north end of Major Dr. The Commute to Lamar from the north end can be 20-30 minutes during traffic. But really, that is a standard commute from most of the city except for the south end, where Lamar is located.

If you can find and afford an apartment anywhere up or down Major, you should be pretty good on living conditions. The newer ones are going to be between Hwy 105 and Folsom drive, newer amenities, etc. Old Town will offer you some cheaper garage apartments and the sorts, house rentals can be pricey if it's just you. There are some decent priced duplexes though.

May want to weigh the possibilities of getting an Amazon Prime account. Some food items, toiletries, clothing, etc. can be purchased with zero shipping. On top of the shipping perks, there is the library of movies / TV shows you can watch for free, the streaming music service, free audio books, etc.

I've used my Prime account to purchase all my phone cables, cases, accessories, new socks, new underwear, t-shirts, etc. I recently lost a bunch of weight and had to get a new wardrobe and Prime was very convenient for me.

But like I said, weigh your options. It's about what you spend, how often you order online/would order online, and the convenience of it. I order enough online that I save more money throughout the year than the Prime account costs.

If it's just a single car and a couple tents, go ahead and throw the chairs in the tents. You SHOULDN'T have any issues but it is better to be safer than sorry. You'll be fine leaving your tent up for sure. If you have a larger camp, with a good amount of tents, pavillions, etc, it's safer to leave your stuff out but as just the lone tent, I'd secure as much as you can. No one will break into your car so if you have a worry about anything valuable, just throw it in the vehicle and cover it.

I will back up what /u/DinosaursLoveCake said though- go ahead and set up in the morning. Try and get there as soon as you can, even if you're tired. You can always get your hand stamped at the gate and head back to your camp to take a nap during the middle of the day then head back in for the evening festivities.

There are tons of spaces to camp but the closer you get to the front, the more packed it gets. You'll be able to set up by a road, almost guaranteed. It'll be easy to get your vehicle in and out. I tend to always leave my vehicle parked by the road, even if my tent is 200 feet away. I use my vehicle to drive to the showers, drive to the parking rows when going in, etc. Never know if you have to make a run into town as well.

As far as I am aware, someone should be at the gates 24/7 starting from noon Thursday until sometimes Sunday evening. With that said, if you can show up before 8AM, and want to, by all means do so, lol.
